DISCUSSION THREAD -- August 2019 -- 75-Word Writing Challenge

@Ashleyne .... THE POLLINATOR .... Ash has a mystery afoot, and the pollinator is closer than imagined.

@Ursa major .... The Border Reiver .... Ursa points to the real truth that there is no such thing as honor among thieves.

@Serendipity .... The Gardens of England ....
Serendipity writes a story which leaves us wondering where we are and what's really happening.

@Luiglin .... It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it .... Luiglin lets us know that sometimes the big reveal is not what we expect.

@elvet .... The Collector .... Elvet draws us into the world where having is an end unto itself.

4th: Saw challenge

5th: Came up with idea.

6th: Wrote it, post it, ready for a snack.

@The Judge It was the NOIR that got me. Thank you very much. I'm 50/50 when it comes to gardening. I like to look at them, but maintaining them is hard work.

@Starbeast .... Detective Comics: Daffodil & Thorn in Botanical City .... The Beast gives us a throwback which style reminds us of a punny Batman show.

Again I've had to look up the definition to get a handle on the genre
"The best definition of hard boiled I know is that of critic Eddie Duggan. In noir, the primary focus is interior: psychic imbalance leading to self-hatred, aggression, sociopathy, or a compulsion to control those with whom one shares experiences. By contrast, hard boiled 'paints a backdrop of institutionalized social corruption'"

I might have to consider hard boiled eggplants ;)

Not sure why, but this is the page I ended up with when I looked up the definition for noir fiction.
Personally, I like #9.

Makes me feel better to see so many of you requiring the need to look up a genre.
I’m not alone it seems. Been doing this for last six months and had to lookup all but one!

Speculative Fiction - should have known really
Gothic - had an idea, but seemed more niche than I realised
Tall tails - thought I understood and then completely missed with my effort
Cyberpunk - no idea that’s what that was
Science fiction - ok knew this one. Then story sucked and least mentions to date.
Noir/Hardboiled - Hardboiled, what! Now this one seems very niche

But got a give it a go.
Love learning the new stuff. Keep em cummin.
May even try reading some of these new avenues. Thats what’s it all about right :giggle:

Ashleyne makes the inner lives of flora relate to our own.

Ursa major pays tribute to an infamous hard-boiled classic with sly wit.

Serendipity presents a new point of view on seemingly ordinary activities.

Luiglin amuses with the adventures of the unlikeliest of heroes.

elvet delves into the world of the rare and valuable.

Starbeast celebrates the world of four color action with tongue firmly in cheek.

@Cathbad & @dannymcg - Take it from me, you don't have to be old to experience an "Oops Moment". I remember a few when I was growing up.

@Parson & @Victoria Silverwolf - Thank you. You both make great reviewers, each with your own unique style.

@Ursa major - I was shocked and delighted to see you so early in a challenge. I was wondering why I saw thousands of little Ursa minions, celebrating every where.

It's also nice to see so many familiar authors post up an early entry.
