DISCUSSION THREAD, September 2019 75-Word Writing Challenge

But I never read the other entries until I've posted mine anyway
I usually look just before I post, just in case someone's existing entry is too much like my own.

Anyway, mine are from Vega Five, yours must be from another Vega satellite
They come from the 13th planet of that system**...

...so the planet's name would be, using the exoplanet naming convention, α Lyrae-n (or, if you like, Vega-n...).

** - It's just as well they, unlike humans, don't like the taste of the inhabitants of Vega Five, don't you think?

I mean, seriously, I never even thought about Robert Service for black comedy. What the hell is wrong with me?

And, more importantly, how do I follow that?*

* in three hours (or is it four?)
With The Creation of Sam Primeau. :p

And we're still on summer time here, so as it's nearly 9pm BST, I think it's 4 hours to go to midnight GMT. I think.

I think hitting the 'dark humour' genre was the hardest bit.

TBH I never read anyone else's before I've posted mine, for this reason. Whatever you were going for before, still go for that I suggest - it's not like there's much choice given the hour...

Bwahahaha! That's cute how you assume I was already going for something. Good lord, man, there's hours and hours (still enough for plural and everything) to go!

I'm going to name a book that.
There are strange things done in the midnight sun,
By women who write for sport.
The Challenge trails have their secret tales
That would make amoebae snort.
The Chronners recite "We've seen queer sights!"
But the queerest they ever did know
Was that night on the eve of make-believe
I created Sam Primeau.

I'm impressed, I can't usually manage to still be in that state, at this point, unless it's a decision to do with money.

If 3 hr 30 min remaining is ages and ages then checking theme and genre last night was, like, forever and I can say still. And I shall, as it's part of the forum handle I mangled one late night (coming up on ten years ago). If you now win the challenge I shall assume this was all an elaborate trap, of course.

Well played.

It's always an elaborate trap. It's just that heffalumps come along so rarely.

@The Judge .... The Muting of Dan McGrew .... Her Honor creates a blast time with her rhythm and her rhyme, leaving me to opine ..... Well done!

*And you have some splaining to do! I catch none of the allusions! Google helps only marginally.

@Perpetual Man .... Setting a president .... Perp goes for the ultimate collapse of a dystopian world.

The Judge sings a tribute to a he-man author of yore.

Perpetual Man provides evidence that politics is universal.

TheDustyZebra shows us that inspiration can come from the most unlikely places.

A very tough contest to judge, but Karn's Return gets the vote for "Averted" because it had a subtle touch.

Didn't expect any mentions this month, let alone votes. Thanks much for you all there.

It was thrown together more out of desperation than anything, this entry, and far below word limit, but I only had what made some kind of sense, though I'm still not sure it really hit the humor side of things too heavily...

Had to go for Stable's entry this month. It's just so deadpan at the end with its pun that it touched my heart a little. Rather reminiscent of some older entries of mine, really.

Take that how you will, peeps.
