DISCUSSION -- OCTOBER 2019 300-word Writing Challenge (#35)

mosaix: In this penetrating psychological study, we witness the development of a richly defined character over time through a few carefully chosen glimpses. By making use of the epistolary method of narration, the author manages to make both person and setting come to life.

Star-child: In this psychological portrait the use of vivid sensory details draws the reader into the mind of the character. The sudden shock that occurs when we realize the nature of what we have been experiencing makes us ponder the nature of consciousness.

Great idea, this challenge, whoever had it. I’m new here and new to writing - new as in I’ve started to actually ’write with intent’ over the last year or so as opposed to just thinking about it :ROFLMAO:. Nice to meet other people into writing.

@TomUK Hiya Tom, welcome to SFF Chronicles, we have an Introduction section if you feel up to telling us a bit about yourself

Dan Jones: Reading between the lines of the frenzied misadventures of the unreliable narrator, we can see a character with little self-awareness. While being amused by these madcap antics, we may pause a moment to consider our own lack of introspection.

Mouse: Comedy and tragedy come together in a tale which manages to be both whimsical and thoughtful. Through the inadvertent harm done by the protagonist, the reader comes to understand that one can never fully know the consequences of one's actions.

I was sceptical at first, 300 words is far below my normal range. Turns out, listening to YouTube for a bit inspired me. Hope everyone enjoys, good luck!

Kharn: In this tale of multiple tragedies, the author brings together history, science fiction, and horror fiction, with a nod to a noted author of the latter. By concealing the motive of the protagonist until the end, the story creates a great deal of suspense.

Shyrka: In this epic fantasy adventure, boiled down to its essence, with not a word wasted, we witness how traumatic experiences can transform the personality of the victim. While some souls will break under the strain of suffering, others will harden, with serious consequences for others.

chrispenycate: The backstage world of the theater comes to life in this convincing portrait of a world most of us will never know. Through the use of realistic details, the reader comes to understand both the mundane challenges and the glorious results of stagecraft.

Day 23 - 12 AM

The Muse offered me a Cheese Danish. Which it had tied to a twenty foot stick. Reaching for the pastry, I discovered....."IT"S A TRAP!"

Sitting at the bottom of his well-made tiger trap, I waited until the Muse finished laughing.

Have you thought about employing henchmen? I know they're mostly a villain thing, but having a group of expendable meat-bags may help in trapping your Muse.

Perhaps post a craigslist ad...

Henchmen wanted in trapping Muse:
No pay
No benefits
High risk of death
Please respond with name and qualifications (bring a red shirt and receive a special prize at the end!)

Day 24 - 6 AM

@Kharn Great idea for my next 300 Challenge. And, nice to meet you.

I've got the Muse.:) It feasts on my IDEA. I better get some more napkins.

@Karn's Return - think - THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER, THEATER.

If that doesn't work, try meditation while dancing like a robot.

I can't meditate. XD

It's a theater, yeah, I'm not much for theater stories though...I might come up with something but eh...haven't really been in the mood for anything to bring up anyway.

@Karn's Return I thought of one theater tale, over and over. However, I came up with a new idea while at work, a few days ago.

Good luck to everyone who wants to post, but hasn't yet.
