Discussion Thread November 2019 75 Word Writing Challenge.

That's what counts.

Indeed it does bro. Creating a tale is the fun part (stressful at times, but fun), then fine tuning the story before posting, is the cheese on the burger.

There are times I wished that the 75 could give 3 Votes to "top pick" authors. Sometimes 5 Votes.

Operative Starbeast reminds the Agency to make use of nonhuman resources.

Unbirthday Party: A Solve-It-Yourself Mystery Excellently executed story, and, a game within. Nice touch, Lady Victoria.

For your eyes only: I figured it out. No peeking. I'm talking to the rest of you who are reading this.

@johnnyjet .... The Secret Code .... Johnny gives us a light hearted look at passwords and time bombs.

@Starbeast .... Agent Sasha Silverfox in "CAKE FALL" .... The Beast presents a talking dog, a super agent, and a real birthday surprise.

@Heijan Xavier .... Love is Poison .... Heijan gives us a heart throb, a stopped heart, and a heartless agent all in one.

I'm in. Hope that some people get it and smile.

So, apparently Thriller isn’t my genre, cause I’m pretty sure I missed by a country mile. Or at the very least I’m the worst shot in the Chrons Super Secretest Service
But it’s the taking part that counts, right?

I'm in. But not without a great deal of torture being used to extract useful information from the Judicial Helpmeet as to its intelligibility.

The avowedly unintelligible title remains, however. I'm hoping Chronners will be quicker on the codebook uptake to figure it out.

Sacre' Mento! (That's a California joke about how our capital city sounds like a french curse)

The peril of entering early is that the middle of the month seems interminable, until the whole thing fades from memory in the later part of the month until... Suddenly the Poll is up.

As if i wasn't flabbergasted enough seeing the poll abruptly appear; I see that I have one of the first two votes cast!

Thank you so much, @Margaret Note Spelling !!

I thought I'd just scraped in, rushing to write an entry on the last day (and smooth the worst of the rough corners off before going out for the night). Then, I find a whole heap came in after mine.

@Alex The G and T Seeing as our tales are similar, I think we should share votes. That way I may actually get a vote/ mention :p

It'll be a few days before I can read and vote, but I wanted to send a note out to @Starbeast: I think "Cake Fall" is a remarkably funny title with this genre and theme, Beastie! :)

It was a bit of a toss-up! I just liked the pacing of Alex's a bit better--and his blithe addition of unnecessary plot elements like live chickens and smashing watermelons in a 75-word challenge sealed the deal for me. :) (Along with the punctuation, to be honest. Punctuation just makes things easier to read, and if the stories are that close in quality and concept, I'll probably take the one that's smoother-punctuated. It's like the difference between an actor being pitch-perfect on their lines, or slightly off but still understandable. Sorry!) I wasn't intending to do a shortlist this month--but if I did, you would have been the next runner-up. The other one was @mosaix's Once A Spy.

While I'm doing mentions, though, I have to confess to being a little...surprised...by the amount of (hinted at) off-color behavior included in the stories this month. Is that unusual? I've only taken part into two challenges before this one, so maybe it's a normal thing. Or maybe it's normal for the spy genre and I didn't know? Just curious.

This month's operatives receiving commendations
So, we meet again... - @Luiglin
GAMES UP, BILLY - @sketch_livingstone = nice last line
Once A Spy... - @mosaix
Extraction - @Shuffle093 - my first idea was along similar lines
Agent Sasha Silverfox in "CAKE FALL" - @Starbeast = the Cardinal Fang reference didn't go unnoticed. Does he know The Bishop?
Death by Irony - @Ursa major

But operative of the month goes to
Code Name: Peitho - @elvet

It will be interesting to see whether the voting favors the thriller genre or comedic satire.
