“One Life, Furnished in Early Poverty” is probably my favorite Ellison story, but it’s probably not sf.
They made "A Boy And His Dog" into a film, not bad worth a view!
This thread must have affected the outcome of the universe in a quantum physics manner (i.e. observer influencing location), as after looking out for Ellison collections in used books stores for several years without any luck, I came across this a few days ago:
View attachment 72166
It's a mint-condition hardback, and cost a pretty penny, but I had to have it. The contents are as follows:
Commuter's Problem
Do-It-Yourself
The Silver Corridor
All the Sounds of Fear
Gnomebody
The Sky Is Burning
Mealtime
The Very Last Day of a Good Woman
Battlefield
Deal from the Bottom
The Wind Beyond the Mountains
Back to the Drawing Boards
Nothing for My Noon Meal
Hadj
Rain, Rain, Go Away
In Lonely Lands
I'll try and get to it soon(ish), but I'm midway through several things so it won't be immediately.
The Essential Ellison A 50 year Retrospective Revised and Expanded
You can get it on eBay for $25 - $30. I always look at eBay and Amazon because you never know which one will have the cheapest price. Sometimes make an offer can get you a really good deal. Many of the sellers use international shipping.
I picked up the S F collection PARTNERS IN WONDER.
Picked up ELLISONS 35 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE.
