DISCUSSION THREAD -- JANUARY 2022 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Many Congratulations @Peter V
Such clear winning margins don’t happen that often.

I used to get out at Swiss Cottage, occasionally going as far as Finchley Road and walking back, so I never had to make that decision.

Big congratulations to Peter V for the resounding victory! Weren't we tied once yesterday? ;) Well done, and terrific story. Look forward to your choices for February.

Thank you, farntfar and The Judge, for the late listings!

Congratulations, Peter! A worthy winner!

Let a mod know your ideas for theme and genre for February as and when you've got a minute during your celebrations! And don't forget to contact Dan or Phyrebrat about recording the story for the Chrons podcast.

Thank you @The Judge for the kind vote. I had someone close to me pass recently and I wrote it for them. It's been hard but writing has been helpful. Was so nice that it caused a glimmer of joy with you.
I did wonder if there was something personal behind it -- I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, but what a wonderful way to encapsulate their life and what they meant to you and, I'm sure, to so many others. It was a lovely story, and full of love.

Well done @Peter V , ya hit the nail on the head with that one -knew it was probably the winner the first time I saw it (well, untill @Parson posted).
Great work, thanks for it.

There's not much to Gallantium Badanticle's Precision Engineering Company Ltd., but I felt there was spark of something worth posting. It's based on a time I worked in a call centre when someone would call in and fire off abuse, before realizing they got the wrong section. Here it is 'narrated' by comedian John Colleary and an upset Chron;)

There used to be both a Television Company and an Electrical Retailer in Manchester both called Granada.

I used to work with a guy who bought an electric kettle from the Electrical Retailer (they also sold TVs). When he got it home it didn't work so, in the office the next day he looked up the phone number for Granada and dialed the TV company. They answered Granada Television. He assumed they meant television sales and asked for the complaints department for kitchen appliances, they put him through to consumer affairs.

He said he wanted to complain about a kettle that didn't work and they were most keen to take down the details. It all went well until Granada attempted to end the call and he demanded that they replace the thing. They said they couldn't - they didn't do that kind of thing. He was an excitable kind of guy anyway but completely blew his lid - shouting and ranting down the 'phone. They calmed him down, discussed it further and he realised what he'd done.

Congratulations Peter V

A gigantic THANKS to reviewers @Victoria Silverwolf , @Parson & @worldofmutes

I thought I was going a little left field with my entry this month only to find Starbeast has already taken that spot, and SB is welcome to the the spot, I don't think I can compete. I won't ever pull on a loose thread again.
Thank you for the vote and wonderful comment. When I was thinking about "Connections", I thought, what if everything was connected. And as for "left field", @Parson gets the award.

@Starbeast - EVERYTHING is connected
Absolutely. As @worldofmutes put it, "The fate of the universe is hanging by a thread."

I also just realised that I missed Starbeast from my shortlistings. That really was a wild and wacky entry and would have made a great episode of a cartoon. The only question is which one? Ren and Stimpy perhaps, or CatDog?
I did imagine it as a cartoon. Did you ever see, "A Tale of Two Kitties" (1942)?
