Discussion Thread -- May 2022 75 Word Writing Challenge

We could do a 2-in-1Challenge. Combine July and August, when many folks are on holiday. ;)
We'd all need time machines to have the August theme in July, or it would never work - as Bowler1 dusts off his Dr Who Tardis.

I'm up for it, but just so we're all clear, I'm not sharing my time machine with anyone. I want to win!

I was thinking 1 (one) theme for 1 (one) 150 (one-hundred-and-fifty)word challenge for the period July/August. With a ;), I might add, but...

Why wasn't this ever the 150 word writing competition?
Assuming this is a serious question. The answer is basically "for no particular reason." My memory is not what it once was --- now there's a scary thought!! but --- This whole 75 word contest started when it was suggested by the mods (the suggestion had been made in the inner sanctum of mod workroom before and was dismissed but this time it was different.) It was either @The Judge or @Teresa Edgerton --- I want to say T.E. had a previous experience when a writing teacher had assigned students to write some 75 word stories and most of them just couldn't do it. So she wondered if maybe the Chrons community would take up the challenge more than her fellow students had. The first contest it was hoped that maybe we would get at least some entries. I remember a comment thinking that 24 would be a roaring success. We got 42 (of course we all realize that the answer to the universe is 42) and it's been a staple ever since. The limiting factor of 75 words was the reason for the 300 word contest later. The 100 Word challenge came about to focus attention only on the story rather than the author.(❁´◡`❁)

I would be up for a longer challenge. Perhaps 2,000 words. I do worry that the number of entries would be low, and the votes even lower (as judging them means reading them).

Sigh! I've got to stop letting my real life interfere with my online life. So off we go to catch up with my reviews.

@Mon0Zer0 .... The Tyranny of the Blank Page .... Sometimes infinity grows from the most simple of beginnings.

@Peter V .... Eternal Afterlife of Pi .... Sometimes the penalty is infinitely sweeter and way more diabolic than can be imagined.

@Cat's Cradle .... A Multiverse of Concurrent Moments… .... Sometimes the ins and outs of the infinite multiverse bring more sorrow and regret.

@Christine Wheelwright .... First Come First Served .... Sometimes the infinity drive police are to be feared, infinity.

@BT Jones .... The Infinite Folly .... Sometimes you have to wonder about the infinity of human ignorance.

@chrispenycate .... The Long way round .... Sometimes infinity is a matter of perspective.

@Bowler1 .... Infinity Loop .... Sometimes even people with big yellow smiles contemplate a sad infinity.

@Daysman .... Airborne .... Sometimes gliding is an infinite life.

@JS Wiig .... Know Your Enemy .... Sometimes knowing things to the infinity leads to something very finite.

Christine Wheelwright: Infinite thoughtfulness in this provocative theological fable.

BT Jones: Infinite insight in this versified lament for human failures.

chrispenycate: Infinite philosophizing in this pondering of everything.

Bowler1: Infinite regret in this experience of stasis.

Daysman: Infinite joy in this portrait of another kind of being.

JS Wiig: Infinite terror in this warning against too much power.

Guttersnipe: Infinite wit in this mathematical joke.

In all honesty, bearing in mind the effort, it might be better to do that and then release an anthology on Amazon / Smashwords.

A lot of flash submissions requirements default to 1000 words. Just putting that out there...

If the first 75 word competition had a very auspicious begining with 42 posts who am I to question (when really, just whisper of Judge being involved is enough to silence this RAY GUN toting coward). Well... I'm glad that's settled, so I'll be off.

@paranoid marvin .... Ever After .... Sometimes forever lasts even longer than it might.

@Aknot .... With A Little Help No Task Is Futile .... Sometimes forever is shorter with a little help from a friend.
