August's Challenge is now up: AUGUST 2022 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge -- READ FIRST POST!!

Theme: WATER
Genre: SPECULATIVE FICTION

By speculative fiction, I mean fantasy or SF or any of their myriad and wonderful off-shoots -- the world is your lobster!

(NB: I woman-fully resisted the temptation to have a theme of Fiendish Snails, but y'know, next time...)

Good luck, everyone!

Really!!!

I've only gone an ordered a new job lot of pitchforks for a mob themed month, which doesn't work all that well with water. I'm with Phyrebrat, do my tears of frustration count as water?

Well, if you defected to the other side, Bowler, I've got just the thing for your mob -- water cannon!

Speechless - well... almost, Bowler1 runs off to get his goggles (safety first) and try out his new toy. A water cannon is just perfect for our summer weather, I'm sure people won't mind if I try it out.

Love the choices, TJ!!

And I've turned from writing about robots to writing about drains (they feature in my last two 75 worders). This story started at 160 words, and I was certain I couldn't edit it below 100; I was ready to abandon it. But I had an inspiration, edited out a bunch of stuff and got it to 75 words. I think these Challenges have many benefits for a writer, and a huge one is learning what's important and what's not, then editing out the chaff.
Any-who, good luck writing, everyone, CC

I think you definitely left the right words in, CC.(y)

I had to look up fluming, which might be better suited to my new water cannon. As soon as I have the water tank filled we'll find out. It takes a while using a garden hose, so bear with me.

@BigJ Under the what?- That was a pure masterpiece. I quite literally laughed out loud when I read the last line. I don't really think it could get much better than that.

Aren't pitchforks just poorly endowed (not to mention slightly deformed) tridents?

My story has been in my mind for quite some time. I'm glad I finally got around to writing it.

Absolutely, cheap knock offs I'd say. But I'm planning in the millions here, and lack of ambition is not a failing of mine. My mega mob needs to be kitted out quickly (I live in hope) and before righteous anger fades, so tridents might get in the way.

But hey... keep yours handy, and you can be the most endowed in the crowd. If that can't temp you, I have no idea what will!

@THX1138 .... Old Freind .... A story of a never ending game of fetch.

@BigJ .... Under the what? .... A story which is great pun.

@AnRoinnUltra .... The ballad of Ronan Spuddlehop .... A water story which points out that life is truly fated.

@Aknot .... The End .... A story with a deadly beautiful ending.

@Guttersnipe .... The Weary Traveler .... A story that made me wonder about Peter Pan and Wendy.

@TheEndIsNigh .... I’ve always fancied twins .... A story too clever by half, or should I say twice is nice? After all, why should you have only one strong bonding if you can have two?

@nixie .... Maybe a camera would be better .... Sometimes a good hunt is just washed away before there's a chance to shoot.

@paranoid marvin .... Waterway To Go .... Sometimes you don't know what you've got until you lose it.
