DISCUSSION THREAD -- October 2022 -- 300 Word Writing Challenge #47

Does anyone else feel like this month's 300 word stories have been particularly creative? I'm getting seriously psyched out about even writing one. I'm sure it will feel like a muddy boot compared to a ballet slipper.

In a nutshell, yes. I had a draft of something that was progressing but binned it today after reading through the entries. Currently back to staring at a blank page

@AnRoinnUltra .... The blather of Ailnasearcagh .... Reminds me that not listening will come back and bite you in the backside. This is the voice of an experienced husband.

Daysman: The initial premise of this story grabs the reader's interest right away, through the creation of a new kind of business that is so plausible that it is sure to exist at some time in the near future. The author provides much more than merely an ingenious idea, however, as this concept is used to create a tale with subtle yet profound characterization.

AnRoinnUltra: With great wit, the author portrays the way in which genuine sincerity is not enough to ensure belief. Skepticism is a virtue, indeed, but how can we know when it becomes a vice instead?

chrispenycate: Through the use of carefully crafted phrases, the author blends interior consciousness with exterior descriptions, resulting in profound insight into the relationship between character and setting. The unique use of words provides an intriguing and compelling reading experience.

@chrispenycate .... Horn .... Chris P writes us a story that underlines the fact that bad for some is good for others and that life is for the birds.

@johnnyjet .... There Will Come Hard Waves .... J. Jet writes us a story of the passing of time and the storms that will come.

I've got 50 words to come up with a last word.

Edit: or scrap and start again

Edit edit: or give up

Well, you have 8.5 days left to enter, Luiglin, so that would make option 1 reasonable, option 2 doable, but option 3 something not to be considered.
Plenty of time, take a breather - maybe the rest of today off, or a long walk - and reconsider options 1 & 2. :) Good luck, CC

Funny month for me. I was hoping for one of the more obscure pics because... well, lighthouses are obviously right up my street but I've written about them so much it's a bit bleaaah. Thing is I've been sitting on mine for a few weeks now making changes here and there and getting it to feel more like I want it. I'm possibly over-fiddling so I've posted it, but have this feeling like I've left the house without my keys, or left the gas on the hob, or something.

ETA Cross-posted with Victoria, thanks. :D

Considering I wrote what I have on the first day of seeing the image, I'm not holding out much hope

BigJ: A host of emotions fills the reader's heart during the progression of this brief and yet sweeping and profound examination of the inner life. It feels as if we have shared the narrator's desperation, joy, sorrow, and indefatigable hope.
