As I get older I wonder who the hell would want to be immortal?
When you think about it, really think about it, an immortal, invulnerable body would be the most hideous thing that anyone could be granted. You're still present when all human life is extinct, when the Sun goes supernova and consumes the Earth. Existing in the emptiness of space, trillions of years later when the light from the last star goes out and plunges the Universe into darkness forever.
That's a shame, your story was high up on my short list, I went to reread it just now and thought I was going mad! I guess you weren't offered any second chants.Oh dear! I went over the 75 words.
I would love to read an extended version if you have time to write it.I think I just felt that I had so much more interesting (to me) detail I wanted to put in the story, but that I had to cut because of word count.
