DISCUSSION THREAD -- MARCH 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

I can't submit.. did I miss it! ** Must've been a browser issue. All good ** :censored:

@Bren G .... Love Unrequited .... This story made me contemplate something worse than love unrequited.

@Axovan Sol .... Uncertain Hope .... This story made me feel as though I was on an ancient battle field.

Thanks. I’m ‘okay’ with it but it doesn’t (it course :D ) get across the feeling I planned.

As I get older I wonder who the hell would want to be immortal?

When you think about it, really think about it, an immortal, invulnerable body would be the most hideous thing that anyone could be granted. You're still present when all human life is extinct, when the Sun goes supernova and consumes the Earth. Existing in the emptiness of space, trillions of years later when the light from the last star goes out and plunges the Universe into darkness forever.

Reminds me of Face of Boe from Doctor who. He lived billion years, died god knows how many times, always kept coming back. I wonder, the last time when his tank broke and the protective atmosphere dispersed, did he trully die, or did he kept coming back ressurected like so many times before, always just seconds before his death yet again. Cruel fate.

I tried, at least - having too little vision to read an entire 75 words without blowing it up to 36 point is going to be a serious handicap for judging and voting. But at least I got something engraved on electrons.

@Lawrence Twiddy .... Daisy Deschain of Gilead .... A story that made me contemplate the idea of justifiable homicide.

@chrispenycate .... Coincidence .... A story that made me wonder if it was coincidence or not.

@Ursa major .... Thank Goodness for the Spare .... A story that celebrates the relief that having a spare can bring.

----------------

Another month with fewer than normal stories, fortunately their quality remains at the normal high level.

Oh dear! I went over the 75 words. :(
That's a shame, your story was high up on my short list, I went to reread it just now and thought I was going mad! I guess you weren't offered any second chants.

My short list:
Love Unrerequited by @Bren G
A Reason to Live by @BigJ
Forgive and Forget by @johnnyjet
The old astronaut, the Cosmos, and the moon-eyed child by @emrosenagel

My vote:
Emergency Procedure by @Cat's Cradle

I'm really sorry, @chrispenycate, that you're having vision problems. You posted a good story. Maybe posting is enough. I hope there might be some improvement to your condition, eventually (I have double vision from strabismus and understand how reading/writing is a real challenge).

Also sorry, @Christine Wheelwright, that your story went over the word limit. I, and perhaps others, never had the opportunity to read it - maybe you could post it after voting ends?

Thanks so much for the vote, @therapist, and the interest in my entry. I will send you a PM soon with more about a longer version; that version doesn't quite exist, but I have a little something extra.

Good luck in the voting, all! CC

@Victoria Silverwolf - that was a good laugh
@THX1138 - a short romantic story, just as I like it
@johnnyjet - I think we need something like this to happen for real, haha
@Far Stranger - that was chilly. Terrifying. Loved it.
@therapist - Declan will surely be welcome on the planet Fabrian, guaranteed
@mosaix - Let's test the faith, shall we?
@emrosenagel - how many would take a second chance like that?
@Phyrebrat - don't wish for immortality. Wish for eternal youth!
@Peter V - I can almost imagine his reason, why he would rather be in prison than in a world like that

Voted:
@Abernovo - I would like to read more of this. I really like this one. I can honestly imagine, if this was written on the back side of a book, I would buy it.
