DISCUSSION THREAD -- JULY 2023 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

"Despite its rollicking drollery, more proper for the music hall than the laboratory, this report from Starbeast suggests a connection with the infamous rodent of Sumatra. Is the world yet prepared to learn of it, do you suppose?"

"As a physician, dear fellow, you will be interested to hear of the medical technique mentioned by Daysman, albeit it suggests less of Lister and more of Moriarty."

"I blush to imagine that Christine Wheelwright be not a nom de plume for a Frenchman, given the bold frankness in this work, which rivals that of Monsieur Balzac, as well as that famed author's literary quality."

How’re you getting on with Shadows Over Baker St, @Cat's Cradle ??
It's waiting to be picked up at our local Post office, so I should have it in my grubby hands in the next day or two. :) I have some eye problems, so my partner/wife and I have a reading night once a week. She will hopefully be able to start reading it before the end of the week, really looking forward to it.

If you enjoy A Study in Emerald, please note it here (or in the reading thread), and I'll get that too, thanks!

Well, my entry has now been assigned to the fates of the thread. I hope that it produces some entertainment value in some quarters of these oft trod threads.

----------

@Starbeast .... Fezziwig’s Mercantile - We Sell Everything Est. 1823 .... This story boggles the mind as I'm sure it was intended to. Game night will never be the same.

@Daysman .... Trade Off .... This story left me to question the wisdom of doing anything at all.

@Christine Wheelwright .... Le Club des Mille Mètres d’Altitude .... This story helps to answer the question of what that petticoat was doing on the lightening rod.

I hope that it produces some entertainment value in some quarters of these oft trod threads.
I smiled throughout, Parson, and laughed at the ending! I think it's quite good, and hope/think most folks will appreciate it as well. Good one, IMO! :)

"This report of a mysterious disappearance from Parson (I wonder; could this be an alias for that clever clergyman Father Brown?) suggests a connection with the affair of the Matilda Briggs; which is, as I have noted before, an incident for which the world is not yet prepared."

@mosaix .... I Only Bet on Certainties .... This story really defines what it means to win when winning is the most important thing in your life.

"Let this incident reported by mosaix (no doubt a street urchin, much like our own Baker Street Irregulars) serve as a warning to you, old fellow; your habit of placing wagers on billiard players and racehorses will soon reduce your military pension to a trifle."

"I have not often been accused of excessive sentimentality; however, this domestic scene from the pen of chrispenycate forces me to admit that, to some, there is music far sweeter than that produced by my treasured Stradivarius."

@chrispenycate .... Interlude .... This is a story which reminds me that an interlude is often a grace period.

@Bren G .... Reckless Embrace .... This is a story which leaves me wondering about what reckless really means.

Well, I'm in with a second idea scenario. My first thought was to riff off the character of Jack the Lamplighter in Mary Poppins Returns, but the only risk I could think of involved her parrot brolly being wielded in an unbecoming manner after he makes unwanted amorous advances, but I thought it might contravene the Chrons' Family Friendly policy... ;)

My entry may be in , but there are still 102 minutes left to get yours in if you haven't done so yet.
