DISCUSSION THREAD -- March 2024 -- 75-Word Writing Challenge

@VRlass .... The springing .... A story that reminds me that you never know what springing forth might accomplish.

The fate of the hunter in the @johnnyjet story doesn’t seem so very sad - to be guaranteed to see something every year which is so beautiful it will make you gasp sounds wonderful! It’s a hit-rate that almost all of us would envy, at any rate, don’t you think? And whilst it is generally thought that eternal life is more of a curse than a blessing, at least one character in fiction would disagree (I am thinking of the human in The Sandman who ends up becoming Morpheus’s only proper friend, but there will be others.)

@johnnyjet .... Spring Out! Spring Out! .... This is the first story I know in which a cheer is part of a mythical ending.

@Yozh .... The Tears of the Sun .... This is a story that brings creation and myth together.

Happy St David's Day!!

The March Challenge is now up:

Theme: Spring
Genre: Myth or Legend

As far as the theme is concerned, don't feel restricted to the season, but use any sense of the word. Special prizes go to those who can get the most definitions into one story!

Good luck, everyone!
Coil spring… spring the season… spring in her step…. Uhhhh… now you’ve got my brain working. Spring out of bed?

@ZroSkeerd .... Collective Recollection .... A story which makes us wonder if we are concentrating on the right things.

@Christine Wheelwright .... The Dryad .... A story best described as a reverse of myth expectations.

@DaCrazyKat29 .... A Girl for King .... A story that shows that myths should not be judged until it's really understood.

@Daysman .... Prime Time .... Sometimes spring comes with a call that smacks ominous.

@Starbeast .... Daddy, Tell Me a Scary Monster Legend Story .... Sometimes legends about monsters can be quite shocking.

@Culhwch .... Frostbite .... Sometimes joy is not shared and that might be very dangerous.

@Swank .... Burnt Flowers .... A story that makes me think about what makes an ace.

I haven't sat down to write in weeks! Been very busy taking care of my mom after a double knee replacement (ouch!), and then I had the pleasure of seeing my hen hatch three precious chicks! Needless to say, I am a busy caretaker at the moment. I admit not writing for so long has stifled my creative energy quite a bit, and I struggled with this challenge. I let my chickens inspire me, but I'm not totally satisfied with what I came up with. Maybe next month will be better :giggle:

My muse seems to be on a extended holiday. I had some trouble coming up with a legendary story, so I went for the different uses of the word spring. Might still be legendary. ;)

@M. Robert Gibson .... S.O.U.P. .... A story that makes me want to consider my language carefully.

@emrosenagel .... Eloma, Epitome of Life and Death and Life .... A story that is as sweet a myth as any.

@nixie .... When Camping, Pay Attention to Local Tales .... A story which will make you use your quizzical face.

@chrispenycate ..... Bluebells .... A poem which brings mythic proportions to bluebells.

@Elckerlyc .... Small talk .... A story which reminds me that small isn't always as small as it should be.

@paranoid marvin .... What a Bounder! .... A poem that gives us a new understanding of Robin Hood and his pursuers.

@Bren G .... Bruinian Bargain .... A story which lifts up a Bruinian Legend.

----

With 7 stories on the last day (and mayhap a few more) it is clear that dame Muse was sneaking off to parts unknown for the longest of times.

@The Judge .... Spring Into Action .... A story that has me rethinking the idea of springing ahead and falling back.

The Challenge is now closed.

The Poll will be along as soon as possible.
