Book Hauls!

Aarti ... Lions of al-Rassan is the tops for me definitely along with the Fionavar Tapestry.
AH..allow me to qualify Fionavar Tapestry is my fav Kay work followed by Tigana. I've never read "Lions" so I think it's one to add to the list.

Recenty started Gardens of the Moon and I'm enjoying it so much that I've now ordered the next 3 in the saga

I just finished "The Hickory Staff - Book I in the Eldarni Sequence" which I bought 3 days ago.

And I just bought "Wheel of Time: New Spring".

Now that I've finally found out what IMO and IMHO stand for (all hail Google) ... I think you'd like Lions of al-Rassan GOLLUM.

I think you should definitely add it to the TBR, GOLLUM! It has very little magic, though, compared to Tigana.

I must admit, I tried reading the first Fionavar book and just didn't get into it at ALL. I think I have trouble with "present-day" fantasy- ones that involve people from nowadays. So I had very little interest from the first in Fionavar.

Kay's next book, Ysabel, is also set in modern-day Provence. So we'll have to see how it goes!

Not a book, but received the latest issue of H. P. Lovecraft's Magazine of Horror in the mail on -- appropriately -- Halloween.... Has a large section on Lumley, and a new Chelsea Quinn Yarbro story....

Have just purchased the Finovar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay. A brilliant bargain, the three books for only $AU12.

Tad William's Otherland books have read previously but don't have copies

Memoirs of a Geisha

Triss by Brian Jacques

and Stephen King's Insomnia again previous read but no copy

I'll have to avoid bookshops for a while now as I've bought this weekend:
Neil Gaiman "Neverwhere"
Stephen Brust "Lord of Castle Black"
Greg Keyes "Dark Genesis: The Birth of the Psi Corps"

I've put myself on a book-buying moratorium until 2007! NO MORE BUYING BOOKS for me. I hope ;-) I think I should be able to manage. Not like there aren't enough books on my shelves to keep me busy through the end of December.

Been there, tried that, let me tell you now it won't last!....:p :p

Have failed in effort NOT to buy any more books this month. Never mind the rest of this year. Just went to Silverfish Books to have lunch with a friend Phek Chin who works there and came out with:

Exile & The Kingdom - Camus
The Wisdom Of Mulla Nasruddin - Shahrukh Husain
The Mysterious Stranger & Other Curious Tales - Mark Twain
The Supernatural Tales of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Taltos ... tell me if you do manage to do that. I usually keep the good intention until I actually pass a bookstore. Sometimes it even lasts for several minutes while I'm in a bookstore.

Well it's day 4 of the no-bookshop week(month) for me, but who's counting...
Probably won't make it a month though, I'm still waiting for 4 books which I ordered through a local bookstore, hopefully they will deliver them on time.

My prblem is that I manage to buy more books, than I have time to read, and this means that my "to-read" pile is getting larger rather than smaller.

And isn't that just the crux of the problem...

I managed to stop buying and have been very good for the last few weeks, then wham get a shelf load for my birthday....;)
