Son came home from the village swapshop shed with a present for me:

3 books today. Not read any Bova yet. First time I've come across any!
And another China Mieville. I've heard good things about this one. I hope its better than his book The Kraken, which I found a struggle.View attachment 122489
Just in case you're not aware those Ben Bova ones are part of a loosely themed series known as the Grand Tour though they are mostly linked by theme rather than a story arc. I think there are a couple that continue the story from the Mars one. But that one would be the first and they can all be read completely stand alone as I recall.

Yep I've been looking out for them

Couple of library freebies. My wife is an artist and I thought she might enjoy the Follett.

The other, a hard back, looks new and unread.

These three turned up in the post today from a UK seller - the Spirou et Fantasio was in a shocking state (I suspected it might be from the listing images but I was assured it was complete). Most of the pages were lose - a couple had been stuck back in with now brittle, old sellotape which has left nasty brown marks. But it was cheap and I had fun taking the whole book to bits and rebuilding it. It's now sat in my drying room along with the Spirou album which needed some TLC. There were a few lose pages - not uncommon for Spirou albums and a couple of torn pages that needed splinting..

Children of Dune by Frank Herbert. Its the audio book read by Simon Vance and Scott Brick. I've not yet listened to anything read by two narrators, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

I couldn't get into the Dune Sequels when i first tried, back in the nineties, (although Dune itself is a favourite). I intend to listen to the entire series over the coming months.
