Book Hauls!

Since I happened to pass by the bookstore on my way to the movies today, I couldn't help but buy more books:

Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman
The Fifth Elephant - Terry Pratchett
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
A Mulher Que Escreveu a Bíblia (The Woman Who Wrote The Bible) - Moacyr Scliar

We went by a book shop today and I ended up buying Bram Stoker's Dracula

Believe it or not, but I've never read it and I want to.

Great book. I read it many years ago, and quite liked it. A true classic.

I just started Kate Elliot's Crown of Stars book 1. I'm liking it enough to have just ordered books 2 - 7.

Dying Inside- Robert Silverberg (SF Masterworks)
Elric- Michael Moorcock (Fantasy Masterworks)
& the first 4 Buffy Season 8 Comics :)

Picked up both Masterworks books at a SFF bookshop, was happy to hear that they are expecting to keep getting the Masterworks books as the local chain bookstores have all stopped sealing them.

Will do, I was actually chatting with the sales assistant and she recommended it (I haven't read any Silverberg), figured I'd grab it as well as its hard to wrong with anything in the Masterworks series :)

Thanks for the feedback JD.

Final final fling I got (hoping Nesa hasn't got it for me LOL! ) :

The Tooth Fairy - Graham Joyce
Ringworld - Larry Niven

Graphic Novels:
Black Orchid - Neil Gaiman
Fahrd and the Grey Mouser - Leiber

GOLLUM .... I just got Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser a couple of weeks ago and it's well done it is. Tell me what you think about it and Black Orchid. I wish he'd done more with the Orchids and Swamp Thing. As for what I got, no, it's none of those. So far keeping my tail crossed is working.

As for the Cave ... it's about
Cipriano Algor a potter who lives with his daughter Marta in a small village. And then there's the Centre. There's also a mulberry tree, a kiln, a bench for contemplation, and a dog named Found. There is Isaura Madruga, with whom Cipriano the potter may or may not be in love. And like the other Saramago books, he manages to take story and words and characters and twist them around and down inside you with such force that they become you.

Literally on the way to the airport I collected:

100 Selected Stroies - O'Henry
Dangerous Visions 35th Edition - Edited by Harlan Ellison
Going For Infinity (A retrospective) - Poul Anderson.

OK folks just arrived in Melbourne and back home again. No more book hauls other than the set of books I ordered through amazon a while back and Nesa's haul.... :)

Now it's time to read the darn stuff, can't wait!!!

Another nice haul there, GOLLUM...

And I quite literally just (as in the mailman dropped it off at the door as I was about to post this) got a new shipment from Hippocampus Press, including:

Collected Essays 5: Philosophy, Autobiography & Miscellany (H. P. Lovecraft; hb)
The Complete Poetry and Translations, Vol. 3: The Flowers of Evil and Others (Clark Ashton Smith)
Dead Reckonings #1 (Spring 2007; a "Review of Horror Literature", ed. S. T. Joshi and Jack M. Haringa)
An Exchange of Souls (Barry Pain)/Lazarus (Henri Béraud)

I got just now

David Gemmell

The Last Gaurdian
Bloodstone

Two books i had waited weeks for. I had to choose them before other books my book shop had ordered and holded for me.

The other books being:
Emphyrio - Jack Vance
The Overlook -
Michael Connelly
Day watch -
Sergei Lukyanenko

Just scored myself a Trade Paperback copy of Legends Volume One  I've had volume 2 for a while but havnt been able to find volume one in the same format, plus i was told that the standard paperback version was missing some good stuff, so I'm super excited to find this, only now I have to wait 3-6 weeks for it to get here...

In addition to the remaining books from Sydney arriving I received the following amazon orders...

Bid Time Returns - Richard Matheson *World Fantasy Award winner
The Gods Of Riverworld - Philp Jose Farmer *Final volume in this legendary series.

A cheerful start to an otherwise depressing exam day:

Jennifer Government by Max Barry

It looks fun.

The packet from amazon I ordered arrived yesterday, containing 3 CD's and The Left Hand of Darkness.

Sonds cool Nikita...:)

Just got:

Measuring The World - Daniel Kehlmann
Heart of Darkness and other tales - Joseph Conrad

Hopefully nothing out of the Cat's bag......:)

Ah, I'm weak, so very weak! (I blame it on that fact that it's now 5am and I didn't have a huge amount of sleep yesterday morning...or the simple fact that I can't stop buying books!) Anyway, just browsing the 3 books for £12 section on Amazon and ended up ordering:

The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
The Mark of the Beast and Other Fantastical Tales by Rudyard Kipling

And it seems that I had a book lying at the bottom of my shopping basket that craftily worked its way into the final order page. So I thought what the hell, might as well buy it (See! Weak, I tells ya!) So I've also bought:

The Cat Who Walks Through Walls - Robert Heinlein

Not a bad haul to say that it was completely spur of the moment! I've changed the dispatch address to my home address, so they'll be waiting when I return home next week. Gods know where I'm going to put them, I haven't room at all, at all...
