Book Hauls!

Ah cool, hope you didn't have to pay extra for them being signed.

Damn, I wish Stephen King would for some reason make an India trip so I could get his autograph on my most fav books written by him. And I suspect given the time he'd be a great conversationalist as well.

Most of the other writers who's autographs I'd like are sadly no more of this earth.

No, regular price, which was good.

Maybe you could fake up a letter inviting him to accept a fictitious award, pick him up at the airport, have him stay at you place awhile. Cut off his foot so he can't escape....

There's a few living authors I'd like to get the autographs of - GRRM and Bernard Cornwell probably the most.

Wreaththu Omnibus - Storm Constantine

I recently bought a book on the local scene. I haven't read the author before, and bought it due to the quote by Thomas Pynchon on the cover "A Post-Millenial Spectacular - dizzingly readable". It's by Matt Ruff and called Sewer, Gas and Electric. Also got word my boxes I mailed myself from Glasgow came in, going to scoop those tomorrow (5 boxes of books!)

Got some new stuff yesterday:

...my local bookstore has about a half dozen books in their sci-fi section and a half dozen in their fantasy section—nothing to haul.

I hear that! My local bookstore has about the same. 1 hour away is a Waldenbooks, which is ok, unless I'm looking for something specific. 2hrs away (any direction) is a Barnes & Noble and Borders.

I just got back from a week in south-west Scotland.

Wigtown is book heaven!
In case you have never been there, it is promoted as Scotlands Book Town.
I'm already saving for my next holiday there!

I bought a whole stack of books recently whilst at Worldcon:

The Jewelfire Trilogy - Freda Warrington: 1- The Amber Citadel, 2- The Sapphire Throne and 3- The Obsidian Tower.

Servants of the Wankh - Jack Vance
The Stolen Throne - Harry Turtledove
