Thoughts About Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince (SPOILERS)

I know I asked already but what are your thoughts on Aunt Petina, I think there may be a piece of magic there..:)
Ha Ha Ha... if there is then she will never show it. I actually don't think she has any magic and her hate for magic is actually from not having it and seeing her sister's attention she recieved when she did. But Petina knows about magic more then what she is letting on.

Aunt Petunia also knows that she is Harry's only protection against Lord Voldemort, unless of course Dudley is viable for that too. She holds a lot of power and I do think she knows this, it's how she wields that power that has me worrying.

She sure hates her sister, well, maybe hate is too strong a word but she's envious of Lily and always has been - envy is a very dangerous emotion and can cause a lot of damage.

Let's just hope that she is good and protects Harry, no matter how badly he is treated there, it's his only hope...

Good post Ada,

Aunt Petunia is Harry's only protection, but can he count on her? I think when it comes down to it, our Harry is going to be on his own fighting the good fight.

Dudley is very much under a question mark:confused:

:):p:)

Ps Sorry if I repeated myself there.

Yeah too true!

The pigtail was very him:):p:)

hi, u know the last word of Half blood prince is "scar", well i had this idea that perhaps the last sentance could b something like, "and all that was left on the ground was a crater shaped curiously like scar" i dont know why i thought this, but i recon it could be the aftermath of a duel between harry and Voldermort, with both dying, due to harry being the final horcrux.

Call me mad, but i recon it could be something like that.

Well... it's not a popular idea, I see... but if you think about it, it'll grow on you. ;)

Anyhoo, aren't we dealing with Magic? Couldn't Hermoine think of a spell and fix the scar, lift the scar, kill the horcrux without hurting Harry? There's a thousand different ideas...

Definitely, Harry is the last horcrux and in order to defeat voldemort must sacrifice his powers

Watched the film this weekend and really enjoyed it.

The scene that struck me the most was when Bellatrix destroyed the refectory. All I could think of was Harry as a boy stepping into there, and how central to everything it was. Truly, it was innocence destroyed.

Trying to avoid threads about Snape because I think we're seeing him play a double bluff here, in the same way as Jon Snow with Qhorin Halfhand in GRRM - that Snape had to be seen to kill Dumbledore, as part of Dumbledore's plan - and that Snape remains on of Dumbledore's most loyal supporters. Otherwise, Snape could have killed Harry both before and after that event.

Also, I think it was implied that - in having some of Voldermort's powers - Harry was, in effect, a living Horcrux.

Can't wait to see the next films, though would rather see them back to back, than have to wait a week between each. :)

*Chews lip off, but manages not to spoil things. Understatement of the year: There's probably quite a few threads (Snape or otherwise) to be avoiding here!*

I recall thinking that the opening scene in this one, with Bellatrix and Narcissa seeking out then confronting Snape to save Draco, was particularly well-done (not to take away anything from the destruction of the dining hall, that captured Bellatrix' nastiness quite well, too). Also thought the closing image of Fawkes, mournfully but somehow serenely departing, was well-done.

And I hope you didn't breathe in too much of the dust on this thread when you opened it up! :D
