Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

The most classical one. Now, I doubt he has the same killing count than Wolverine.
Comic industry may decide to give Batman the upper hand in this fight, but with the element we have, I'll give it to Wolverine. especially since Adamantium is unknown on DC Earth and, as such, Batman doesn't have enough info to definitly get rid of him.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

But then, the Bat could get another gadget ie. a huge magnet and then Logan'd be as helpless as he was against Magneto personally. BTW, I'm all for Wolverine, but as for the chess game, I doubt any of them really knows the rules and could play it at all, this game not being exactly very popular with the comic industry:D .

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Bruce Wayne would know how to play chess. Very, very well.

I like the magnet idea. Batman comes up against the Wolverine. Wolverine wins round one, with Batman barely escaping. Regroups in the Batcave. 'Alfred, I need the biggest electromagnet you can find. No, that's too big.' Uses superior intelligence and dashing good looks to draw Wolverine into a trap. Flicks a switch. Wolverine comes over all Jesus on the electromagnet. The Bat drops it into Gotham Harbour, lets it marinate for two or so weeks. Regenerate that, Hairdo! The Bat wins...

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Err guys... Even without adamantium wolverine survived and was even quicker to go to berserk rage.
And who will tell the Bat, adamantium can be magnetically attracted ? Not all metal can be attracted. Anyway, I'm sure the TPTB would be able to write a story going one way or another. And as long as it's a good one, I would buy it.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

I was going with the Batman gets slashed by twelve-inch metal (METAL!) claws, puts two and two together (okay, maybe Alfred helps a little) and thinks, magnet! Yeah!

You just don't want to admit our way makes sense!

Berserk rage! Bah!

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Now it's a different story. It's not Batman vs Wolverine, but Batman & Mighty Alfred vs Wolverine. Which is much different... Alfred is way too good as a butler to let Wolverine win.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Exactly - obviously Bruce Wayne is smart enough to utilise every advantage. Meanwhile, Wolverine has beserk rage. Ipso facto. Case closed. Twenty on the Caped One.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

And healing factor. Yep.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Wolverine has nothing ging for him except muscle, adamantium, regeneration and centures of fighting everything around him. Batman is not just a trained fighter and superb athlete, he is also a superhero who relies on a considerable intellect and kickass gadgetry as much as strength. While one-on-one unaremd comabt would probably not go well for Batman in terms of sheer strength and resilience, throw in that utility belt and Batman's sheer smarts and I think he'd find a way to win. Remember how the Justice League once discovered that Batman had compiled extensive dossiers on each of their weaknesses and created sure fire plans to eliminate each of them, should the need arise? If there's one DC hero who is paranoid and thorough enough to have already researched the Marvel universes feisty claw-fist and come up with an effective combat plan, it's Batman.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

I beg to pardon, but Wolverine has proven to be able of reflexion too (even if some lousy writers forget it) - that's must be why they mixed the two characters in the Amalgam serie :

A combat-plan yes. An effective one ? no.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Whoa! That's a crazy image all right! I'm willing to grant that Wolvey isn't just a ball of muscle and adamantium, but most of the comics seem to emphasise purely on this aspect. He has a certain code of conduct of his own of course, but most of the time he just busts, breaks stuff, kills people and moves on. Then again, for the world's greatest detective, there are too many stories where Batman just broods and acts bitter and then kicks a lot of ass.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

In the two case, it's lazy writing. Both characters are sure sale for their respective publishers which launch too many titles about Wolverine or Batman (also Spiderman or Superman) without thinking of the quality.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

yes lazy writing, and imature fan bases. just as it's easier to let peter parker never change (i don't like spidey, he whines) or superman be more than the boy next door. when these things are experimented with though, they produce some very effective books.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Re: Immature fan bases, I don't think it's the actual children and teenagers who read comics that are the issue as much as the ostensibly grown-up writers and creators who tend to be stuck in retarded, lazy modes of thought. It isn't as if comics will improve suddenly when they start to be read by the folks in the geriatric wards!:p

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

no, but readership and fan basses do have an impact. for example, i hardly think that a very dark book like the huntress series (i'm talking about ten years ago re-invention here who got involved with seriel killers and the whole mafia ethos) would be read by pre-adolecent teens.

Re: Superhero Showdown: Wolveriene VS Batman

Kids don't read comics no more. Most people buying them are teens and young grown-ups. One of the major problems of comics companies it to find a way to re-attract young readers.

I think stuff like the Justice League and Batman cartoons, and the spin-off comics ought to help with that. They jetisson complex current continuity and simply tell good, fun superhero stories. :)

ah, the good old days! i must admit i love some of those, but i'd not put it asside for more interesting plot and character developements.
