Lost

lost isn't confusing, it's like when twin peaks was on, everyone was saying it was really wierd, but it was a very simple story. sigh. and i''m still enjoying it!

Hey, Kaneda, could you post or PM the link to Channel 4 website, please ?

Twin Peaks was really weird. That's what made it so much fun.:p

But you're right that Lost isn't really confusing. Still, there is a lot there, so much that it can seem confusing. I know, I don't catch a lot of the detail - I'm almost incapable of just sitting and watching a show. With the exception of CSI, I pretty much have to be doing something else as well when I'm watching TV or I feel like I'm wasting my time. But, even not getting all the detail, I find Lost easy to follow. And, even if it is difficult to follow, they repeat each episode enough times (at least here in the US) that it's possible to catch up if you miss something the first time through.

Because all season 1 is done there. Here, in Europe, we saw (that is the one who didn't play with the Web) each one only once. But yes, quite easy to go with. Although, true that's a show either you're hooked from the first time, either you can't get in.

Thanks Kadena for the link. Quite interesting one.

they repeat here, four times, at least, that i've counted. i catch the sunday evening shows.

OK, so

The inital group has now separated into two camps, the 'families, jack and locke have moved to the caves, while the 'harder' ones, sawyer, sahid, michael, have stayed on the beach. is it my imagination, or are they being a bit dim here?
1. why not all live in the caves but man the signal fire with a shift?
2. why only have one signal fire, a ship could easily be passing on one of the other coasts and miss it.
3. why have they not tried to find the origianl signal, the one blocking them? and change the message and frequency? i mean, what if the original person had been rescued, and forgotten to turn off the answer phone? or died, a ship came and saw she was dead and now all ships in the area ignore the message, all to lazy to go and turn it off?

appart from the obvious stupidity of the gang, the tension is building nicely and i anticipate some good episodes over water, food and sawyers booze:D

Ok, non spoilers answers but little known facts.

1 - Jack snores. The one who moved to the caves are the ones with audition deficiency or profound sleep.
2 - Because only John can light a fire without matches or lighter and they're too lazy to maintain 2 of them.
3 - Nobody agreed yet on what to say in the message and in which language.

Strangely, Sawyer isn't the more boozy on or off the island.

bwahahahahahahahaha!:D

Survival 101 suggests creating a man made marking on the island (beach) eg an X, And have a larger fire every night burning...
Whether they all live in the woods or not doesn't make that much of a differences (water aside)

My 2 cents: (spoiilers)

I think the point of staying on the beach was psychological. Moving to the caves signified "giving up" on the hope of being rescued. Many were not prepared for this yet. The move to the caves was also for protection. The main body of the castaways isnt truly aware of the greater danger yet. Insofar as the "thing" which toppled the trees, no one is really sure what to make of it. Read through the "diary" on the ABC-Lost webpage for the point of view of someone from the beach.

2. why only have one signal fire, a ship could easily be passing on one of the other coasts and miss it.

They havent explored much of the island yet. The question to debate at this point is why havent they explored.

3. why have they not tried to find the origianl signal, the one blocking them? and change the message and frequency? i mean, what if the original person had been rescued, and forgotten to turn off the answer phone? or died, a ship came and saw she was dead and now all ships in the area ignore the message, all to lazy to go and turn it off?

1.Only those that went out and found the signal know about it. They havent shared the information with the group.
2. Everytime they stray too far into the island they get attacked by one thing or another.
3. Keep watching :)

Not sure that as a whole they are being all that stupid. They have just survived a very traumatic event and are unsure as to how to proceed. Remember too that they really do not have a true "leader" making decisions for the group. This will be explored more a bit later in the series. People do some very strange things when forced to make decisions under stressful, unfamiliar situations. (the news out of New Orleans just gets more disturbing everyday)

i typed up a good reply to trey, but my browser decided to die on me, so it's now lost. ah well, you live and learn...

hmmmmmmmm my friend has apparently downloaded the whole thing from the internet :)mad: not a good thing BUT he say's that he will be buying the dvd). Now the question is, shall i let him copy it for me (thus eliminating his whole 'I could ruin lost for you' hold over me, plus I'd get to find out what the hell is going on!) or just continue doing a week by week thing. ooooo the decisions the decisions....

in france babe, here we're right at the start of season one. i understand that sort of dilema. i enjoy having something new and good to watch each night, but would really love to know what happens next, altough i do doubt quite seriously that the series will let us know what the hell is going on:)

Over here in Oz we just finished the first season about a month ago...the ony question is will they start the second season close to when it airs in the USA or keep it for next years rating season- if they hold it over i can imagine it being no where near as succesful as the first season cuz most of the hardcore fans will eather have downloaded it or have access to someone who can...

Nope, on the Net. In France, we're still not sure TF1 will show season 2 next summer
