Game of Thrones RPG

This should be the new title for the GRRM forum.

Agreed.

I've sent Egg my character idea. I don't mind if it gets changed though. It only hit me after I pressed 'send' that another really cool character to play would be a really handsome arrogant southron lordling as the game is mostly RP and non combat scenarios. Or does that solely depend on the GM?

I'm all about humility... It happens to be my quality of which I'm most proud.

Nope, definitely not in the most common sense, or second most common.

Hi Guys - just found this site. Am very interested in what you're doing - how has the email RP gone so far?

Welcome, MP. The email RPG has not started... I don't know that it will under the current format. Our GM is gone. Hopefully, he is alright.

Yeah Aegon the Unworthy was taking charge of the whole thing and I haven't seen him around here in ages. Shame too.. This is something I was really interested in doing. I'd take the initiative myself but I don't have any experience with RPGs. Except the MMO kind

But I've heard some pretty negative things about combat in this version of the ASOIAF RPG. Apparently the negative effect that armour gives you due to movement restrictions totally unbalances things and basically removes all of the armour save. Someone had an example they came across while playing where 2 identical people with identical stats were fighting something, one wearing leather and one wearing plate and both of them got hit by this same enemy. The guy in leather actually took less damage after they took into account the armour save and then the negative effect that heavy armour has on you... Sounds a bit flawed to me. You'd think that if someone took a hammer to your chest you'd want to be wearing full plate, not a bit of boiled leather.

On his Not A Blog, GRRM's latest entry says that ASOIAF RPG took the silver medal (second place, I'd assume) for best rules (for a new system, I'd assume) at GenCon.

I've managed to get my hands on the original RP by Guardians of Order (now defunct) and am going to have a look at that (well - it should be in the post!). There are two reviews by a guy called Kurt Wiegel on Youtube, he won't say which he prefers, but I get the feeling he's far more enthusiastic about the 1st one... watch for yourself:

(I can't yet post links so just add the above to the normal youtube domain to get there [www dot youtube dot com]...)

It's a real shame you guys never got started - I thought it sounded like a fantastic idea! I'd offer but I'm a pretty green GM so I don't think I'd be much use!! :(
