The Hound? (spoilers)

Yeah, I found this thread after I posted that. I guess I'll respond here, as this is the thread about the Hound and I don't want to derail that other thread any further from the Frankenknight discussion.

I thought discovering the Hound's death was a big part of AFFC. The whole book has rumors of the Hound still marauding the riverlands, Brienne is always nervous that she will bump into him, etc. And then we meet the Silent Brothers and the news that Sandor is dead. If memory serves, last time we saw him, Sandor was in serious trouble and near death from his wounds so the monk's story makes sense.

It's possible that he is alive, there's no denying that. But even if he's still limping around as the gravedigger, I seem to think that his part of the story is over.

Not for a man like Sandor. I really hope the new POV is his. Although we not here from Sandor until after ADFD (ATFW) as it will focus on the North and Dany.

Oh yes, the North! I can't wait to hear from Bran! I'm positively hopping with excitement, I love Bran and did I already say I can't wait?!

If you look at the charcaters that Martin has killed off, even the most important ones, their personalities have not been fully developed with the exception being Eddard. Take Joffrey for example, we all know he was a little &^%$ (insert any 4-letter word you like) but we never got serious description. Part of the reasoning is those killed off are not really POV characters, but even in Robb's case we do not get to know his chracter intimately.
Now in Sandor's character we got to find out some stuff about him through Sansa in whom he confided. It only makes sense that he would develope a character that he has invested the amount of time in painting the past and making connection to others.

My money is on Sandor and Gregor (or FrankenGregor or whatever) finally meeting and battling it out. We have been waiting for it since the tourney. I will be excited for that little gratuitous scene!!!!!!!!!

true enough, but rereading the Cersei POV, GRRM hints but doesnt actually say anything to what Qyburn is doing. I bloody couldnt get the Frankenstein image out of my head. Its not my fault I tell ya, Its bloody GRRM {shakes fist at an imaginaryGRRM}. Oh and I didnt want to call him UnGregror someone else holds that way cool name.:) Later.

Any chance the Hound may join the army of the gods (Sparrows) - if he's still alive of course?

Please GRRM, give us a Sandor POV (minus the Sansa wet dreams of course).

Forgive my ignorance. (I have 80 or so pages left in AFFC) But didnt Gregor die? or did Cersei ship off some fake head like she shipped a fake arya to roose bolton

sorry for the double post. Whats the deal with sandor reuiniting with hodor? when did they ever come across eachother?

Re: The Hound (spoilers)

I just finished AFFC and my quick answer is yes, Gregor is dead. And so is his brother, the Hound. Except the Hound is now a member of Catelyn's posse, or is he the undead Hound? It doesn't make sense to me that the author would choose to call someone "Hound" if he were merely a lesser character in a discarded helm (see Brienne 628+). Anyone?
PS. Where did you read that the Hound reunites with Hodor? They meet in GoT.

gregor was poisoned by the viper, but he was taking rather long to die, and his screams were unsettling people so she allowed qyburn to cart him off to the dungeons. We then hear about his "experiments" and cersei (i think) orders a suit of armour made that's so heavy that "no man could possibly wear it". Draw from that what you will

the hound is "dead". several people have said so (the wandering priest brienne meets, the abbot of that monastery etc.). But no one on this board believes Sandor's really dead. :) He's too important a character to kill off camera, as it were, and if you re-read the passage where the priest tells brienne how he buried the hound, you'll see he only ever says "the hound is dead", "the man you seek is gone" etc. the only time he says Sandor clegane he simply says "he is at peace."

common consensus is that sandor is in fact the huge monk at the monastery, the one who throws dirt at sir hugh (or whatever brienns companion is called. must re-read. :)).

The brotherhood without banners found the hounds grave, and the helm placed atop it and stole it. They now ride around scaring the sh*t out of lannisters with it :D

Am I the only person who doesn't have any romantic notions whatsoever about Sansa and Sandor?

Arya,

It seemed to me that there was a lot of effort put into grooming the future relationship between the Dog and Sansa. Its almost as if there was a very strong connection between the two that neither would accept.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it..the whole beauty and the beast thing. But just thinking about many of their interactions makes me feel there is something there that has not been brought to fruition yet.

I was always hoping the Hound would take the black.

Barring that, I want him to reunite with Sansa.

This could be a really interesting scenario - Sansa, corrupted by Littlefinger, desire for revenge and a desire for power and safety (in that order!), meets Sandor, who has achieved a 'state of grace' - both have moved to the opposite side of the board, in a way. Sandor may pity Sansa and Sansa will scorn Sandor.

LOL you just gave me a thought. Qyburn's monster turns out a beautiful queen, and takes all Cersei holds dear and beloved.

No Margaery, no Dany.... just the womanly form of Ser Gregor.

About beautifull queen... How about Sansa? After Robbs death she became queen of the North.

i'dalways thought of it being dany... whcih is why i'm not banking too mcuh on margaery surviving the trial... I think cersei will get through unscaved, pretty mcuh...

I thought about Dany too,but... Sansa was involved in killing Joff. And he didn't die before Robb did, and Margery became queen. Quite a mes,ay?
