Don't hate Cat

Alls I'm saying is don't be too hard on Cat, she has issues...

Everyone in the world has issues -- it's how a person deals with those issues that reveals his or her character.

The only person I want to meet a horrible end more than Cat is Sansa. Call it what you will - motherhood, distress, broken heartedness, whatever. Cat and Sansa deserve a horrific end. I hope meets up with her icy-blue-eyed mama and someone lights them both on fire.

I can take the incestuous and dimwitted Cersei more than either of those two. Yet it would be nice to throw all three of them to the flames!

You want a woman to root for, I say bring Asha and Arya on and be done with all of this "please don't hate Cat" mess. There is a reason most of the readers can't stand her. She tried to be a strong leader yet almost always the worst decision possible. She tried to protect her children, yet the only one not traumatized is the illegitimate son sent to the wall, one she doesn't want to have anything to do with. On second thought, better than burning Cat, I hope Jon Snow kills her slowly with a small obsidian knife.

Before she was turned into a wight she was always one step from loony-ville with her sister Lysa "watch you step" Arryn.

Face it No one likes her case closed.

PM me if you want to know how I really feel;) !

I don't love Cat, and I don't hate her. I do understand her, though. I don't find her at fault for the deaths of her children. Tell me- how does one protect her children from so many unseen enemies? She's not Miss Cleo, after all.
In the game of thrones, nobody is safe. Even if Cat had stayed home with Bran instead of going to King's Landing, the dice had been cast the second that Ned accepted the position of Hand, and certainly the second that Bran saw Cersei and Jaime. One way or another, the Lannisters would have been out for blood.

She could have listened to Ned at the very beginning and let him stay in Winterfell, amass the armies of the North and wipe out the plague of King's Landing. Within a few months King Robert would have been dead, Stannis would have named Joffrey and evil born of incest, Ned would have sided with a non-Lord-of-Light-believing Stannis, and Stannins would have become King. Then the real story would deal soley with the Others, Danearys, and battle for the sevne kingdoms. But no she had to push the issue with Ned goign to King's Landing.

ALL HER FAULT.

You will find no mercy here.

In all seriousness, I really don't like Catelyn, but I really do enjoy stoking the fire in this thread. Keep 'em coming....:p

aw! lay off cersi! she's my idol (well kinda. i just find her cool) sansa i dont' like much, but i don't hate her either. i feel sorry for cat and sansa. they lost husband/father, sibblings/children, and in sansas case, mother as well! their home, everything they knew, allll gone! and ok, they're annoying, selfish, and more than a bit boring! but its just not enough for me to hate them

danys, on the other hand . . .
i really do dislike her! i wsih her dragons would eat her. i wish it SO MUCH! :)

i deleted that bit (afer you'd quoted clearly) just in case it made me sound like i was changing my mind or being a hypocrite :) cos i do like cat, and i can't hate her, but you can always try, right?

and thats' what is important. that you try :)

Dany is definitely my favorite female character and I hope she comes to Westeros and kicks freaking @$$! It's not surprising why most women hate her - she's young and hot and is open about her sexuality. She's a woman and likes to be treated like one. She's not a prude and she's not a frigid b***ch. She rode Drogo like a wild stallion and all of us LOVED IT! Well, at least me and my friends loved it! :p
More Dany! More dragons! More nakedness!
Yeah, baby!

Dany is definitely going to kick freakin' ACE, Dragon-style! Fire and Blood baby. The sex bothers me a little though; she is so young when she and Drogo consumate the marriage. I think we should only get lurid sexual descriptions of girls sex lives after they are 16. Hey-it's better than 14! I think a lot of folks hate Dany's chapters more so than Dany herself. I have to admit they are a little slow at times, but we see her trying to mature into a worthy ruler and that's important. Hopefully we'll get to see some more face-melting dragon activity soon!
Faery Queen: Are you pulling our legs? I'm not trying to get personal (so please don't take it personally), but Cersei is a vile person, incest is not hot, etc. It's all good, because my disagreement with just about everything you've posted got me posting again, but DAMN... I just can't put my head around your preferences. Again, don't take it personally please...I'm a nice guy for a Satan worshipper, and I don't want you to feel uncomfortable saying what you feel (you mentioned in another thread that you got some heat in the other forums). Scotland Rules!

I agree with everything Yossarian said.
Except I'm not a Satan worshipper. :D No offense dude.
Cersei is an evil b**ch and I can't wait to see what the Sparrows do to her. I figure she deserves everything she gets. Incest IS sick and twisted and even though Jaime has somewhat redeemed himself (or at least is trying to), I hope he gets his too - maybe some of that face-melting action!

I like Cat. And the new Cat. I don't like to call her UnCat as she isn't undead. She is just as alive as Beric was.
And her killing Breinne and Pod and Hyle. I can see her reasons why. It's just a misunderstanding really.

Then Jaime's flinging Bran from the tower was also just a misunderstanding.

Vargo lopping off Jaime's hand, Arya's killing of the stable boy, Mycah's murder, Joff's assassination, Theon's murder of the miller's sons, Eddard's execution, Tyrion's patricide, Baelish throwing Lysa through the Moon Door, Shae's betrayal of Tyrion, Aerys' planned destruction of King's Landing, Dany's reneging on her bargain with the Wise (or was it the Good) Masters of Astapor, and the slayings of Craster and the Old Bear were also just misunderstandings... the doers of the deeds had their reasons.

Perhaps the greatest misunderstandings were Viserys' coronation by Drogo and Arianne's imprisonment by Doran.

Edit: I got slightly off track with this post.

When Catelyn convinced her honorable husband to stick his neck into the nest of vipers that is the Small Council in order to save their family... he misunderstood her.

When Catelyn told Jon, "It should have been you"... Jon just misunderstood her.

When Catelyn ignored her entire family to mourn for Bran... they just misunderstood her.

When Catelyn abandoned Robb to oversee the marshalling of the North... he misunderstood her.

When Catelyn convinced Ned to trust Petyr (a man of absolutely no scruples whatsoever)... he misunderstood her.

When Catelyn convinced Robb to put Roose Bolton (the most treacherous snake from the North) in charge of his eastern force (all that stood between Robb and the North) because Bolton was cautious (he unwisely assaulted Tywin and got mauled, then he allowed Glover to go and get his force destroyed for nothing) and trustworthy (as far as I can tell Bolton may have been in communication with Tywin as soon as Robb rebelled, anyway Bolton sold out the Starks for slaughter)... Robb misunderstood her.

When Catelyn got angry for Edmure not being there for Hoster (forget the fact that she had only visited once in the previous sixteen years)... he misunderstood her.

When Catelyn plunged the realm into war by kidnapping the King's brother in-law... she was misunderstood.

When Catelyn stayed with her dying father instead of saving Bran and Rickon... she was misunderstood.

When Catelyn freed the Kingslayer, ensuring more war and bloodshed... they misunderstood her.

When Catelyn showed no sympathy for Lord Karstark... she was misunderstood.

When Catelyn destroyed Houses Stark and Tully, greatly participated in the fall of House Arryn, ignited the Westerosi Civil War, freed the most renowned villain in the Seven Kingdoms, abandoned her two youngest children, ran from place to place so that she did not have to face the harder issues... she was misunderstood.

When Catelyn came back from the dead to go on a psychopathic, muderous vendetta against humanity... we all just misunderstood her.

Easy, killer. That was quite a rant.

I'm not going to comment on all of Catelyn's acts preceding her death. What I will say, however, is that now that she is UnCat (which I will most certainly call her, as there is nothing left of Catelyn in that creature) I despise her. I had issues with her before, but now that she has decided that she's the person who is most worthy to judge and condemn others, I have no pity left for her. And I still don't understand why any of those men follow her. They obviously fear and dislike her. But how hard is it to run away? It's not like she'd be able to hold her own in a fight against them.

Hey, that was not a rant... you just misunderstood me.

gigi, btw, I meant nothing personal in my posts. The "misunderstood" line was such a great launching point that I had to use it.

/Dolorous Edd explodes from laughing too much.

What i like so much about Boaz is not so much what he says, but how he says it. He puts his arguments SO well. :D

Great post, Boaz!!

A hearty AMEN, Boaz!
I freaking hate Catelyn - I'm glad she died at the Red Wedding and will be equally glad when either Jon puts Valyrian Steel through her cold heart or a dragon melts her face off.
As for hating, I hate GRRM for bringing this undead $#!+ into the storyline!

The problem is that Raven posts on these forums... and after I read his arguments I always finding myself agreeing with him 100%. My distaste for Catelyn dies when he makes sense.
