Taena Merryweather

I think people are really fishing here. I think it was just some random horny pirate from Myr or wherever in the world she's from. Is that too straight-forward an explanation?

I would personally be disappointed if too many of the characters are intertwined - afterall, in the real world, thats rare. There are some stunning coincedences and famous figures do tend to get around a lot, but it would all be a bit too neat. Like those silly Agatha Christie novels, as someone pointed out earlier, I believe. Or actually - like the Black Adder episode with Prince Ludwig :

Prince Ludwig: You do not remember me then, Herr Blackadder?

Edmund: I don't believe I had the pleasure.

Prince Ludwig: Oh, on the contrary, we have met many times. Also you knew me by another name. Do you recall a mysterious black marketeer and smuggler called Otto, with whom you used to dine and plot and play for biscuit gain at the Old Pizzle in Dover?

Edmund: God!

Prince Ludwig: Yes! I was the waitress.

Edmund: I don't believe it, *you*, 'Big Sally'?

Prince Ludwig: (in a squeaky feminine voice) Will you have another piece of pie, my Lord?

Edmund: But I went to bed with you, didn't I?

Prince Ludwig: In my country, I am willing to make any sacrifice.

OK, OK, enough already! I have been humbled by your thorough analysis of my suggestion (especially yours SW) and retract the connection between Taena and the Faceless Men (although I relish the day I could say I told you so... ;) )

I'll go eat a big bowl of lime green jello now, maybe with some Cool Whip on top.

Sorry, I've been a little stressed lately and my patience and tolerance is about nonexistent right now. I do, however, acknowledge that GRRM reserves the right to blow our socks off, and I promise to be suitably humble should that occur.
