Rhaegar's book

When did GRRM mention that Blackfyre would make an appearance? There is much speculation about the sword but other then that... .

Besides in the end blackfyre seems like 'just' another valyrian sword, more interesting would be to find out if there are descendants left of the Great Bastards.

Okay Im gonna say this again....

In one of them correspondence with fans George has done...he was asked if Rhaegars children were actually dead...

Elia’s Children
I was wondering if you could answer (or take the "fifth") one teeny little question I've been dying to ask for the past year: Are Aegon and Rhaenys, Elia's children, well and truly dead?

All I have to say is that there is absolutely no doubt that little Princess Rhaenys was dragged from beneath her father's bed and slain.

Thats the beginning of why we think Aegon is alive....theres more of course....

Charming Serpent - in the House of Undying, Rhaegar is holding Aegon while telling Dany that there have to be one more - don't you think it's a HINT that Aegon is alive? (And he is SO going to be a head of the dragon!)

I agree with Viz on his last post, most assuredly. And Kiwi. No doubt on Blackfyre being just another sword and I wish and hope there would be more of the Blackfyre descendants, but I know its been mentioned alot about the last of those pretenders being killed on the stepstones. But, GRRM has shown that there are many PoV that don't agree and hidden things as well. Maybe some live and just gave up claim to the throne?
Oh, he mentioned about the sword in an interview he did on-line that I was reading. I don't remember the date, but I read it a few months ago. Someone asked what had happened to the Targaryen's sword since all the other houses had one and he mentioned that it would be revealed upcoming.
As to his comment about Rhaegars little girl being absolutely dead and leaving us hanging on the others: I mean, yeah, its possible and even tantilizing, but from my perspective, he usually drops or leaves even some obscure clues in the books and I've tried my damnednest to find one for Aegon, but just can't. Though I would love it if it were true.

If anyone has anymore theories though I'd be more than glad to hear them. Its rare I get to converse with people who know alot about the books in detail.

See Tysh, I personally think due to her seeing her father talk to Rossart about leaving Robert only bones and ashes that she was just seeing the past in those last two visions. The last being her brother holding his newborn son and speaking to Elia, though I do not believe he told her of the prophecy. Whether he had intended to have one more child through her or not I believe that was him in the past before the rebellion. Lets not forget that as of now, for all we know, in the books it has been stated how he and Aemon both misinterpreted and were wrong about the prophecy. Also, we know Dany was reborn in the Dothraki Sea amidst smoke and salt. Aemon now firmly believes as well as the mad mage that Dany is TPTWP i.e Azhor himself. Siting that it was a foul up in the translation that he and Rhaegar were misled by.

Dragons are neither male nor female, as changeable as the candle flame or something like that he said. Also said they had been looking for a Prince and they had thought themselves so wise, he and Rhaegar, but were fools. not a Princess and that Barth, whose books were burned 1000 years ago had it right about such.

Cripe, now its really bugging me if Aegon is still alive now and I can't fall asleep due to my brain toying with new ideas now. Has GRRM given anymore clues or said anything more on the subject? Is there some text in the books I have overlooked? Then my mind wanders to who would shelter the child or swicthed I might say, what House, if any? Darry? Dayne? Is Edric Dayne, really Aegon? That would coincide with the age he i, but why is he named after Ned when Ned helped kill the Sword of the Morning? Perhaps Aegon was sent to the Golden company and any last Blackfyre survivors? And perhaps last, though I truly hope not, is Jon then Aegon or was he switched with the real Aegon as well?

Lol, Thanks alot guys. Now I will have no sleep and this will bother me until answers are given and the books come out!! Lol

I've never liked the idea of baby Aegon being alive. It's just really pushing the whole thing where "dead" characters come back to life. It's already borderline ridiculous how many characters don't stay dead. Let the dead die, I say.

We have Catelyn, we have the others, We had Beric Dondarrion, who else?

thats different, those the readers almost certainly knew wether they where alive or no.

I think Gregor Clegane is a good bet, too. The Others don't count since that falls into the category of "monster". That's already three too many by my count.

I believe you can also count Bran and Arya (Rickon is probably too young) since the world believes them dead. So in the character's eyes they will miraculously return to play their parts in saving the day. The reason I don't have a problem with them is because they are characters GRRM is actively following with the intention of bringing them back later on to the world at large. We know them, we can guess at their purposes, it's fine.

Where I would have a problem is baby Aegon suddenly appearing to save the day after we've had no indication that he's alive and, if he is alive, we certainly haven't gotten to know him. If it happened it would be way too much of a deus ex machina for me and I would be disappointed. Fortunately, I don't think GRRM will do it. He respects his story too much to have something so convenient happen like that. I personally think he was trying to mess with people's heads when he made his comments about Rhaenys definitely being dead but left out Aegon.

Honestly, can you imagine:

Dany: Aw, crap! We need another head!
Jon: Heh, heh, I've got a spare head here....
Dany: *groan*
GRRM: BEHOLD AND WONDER FOR I PRESENT BABY AEGON CONVENIENTLY ARRIVING IN THE NICK OF TIME TO AID IN YON QUEST TO SMITE ALL FOES!
Dany: Woot!
Jon: Aw, man :(...*laces up his breeches*

Like i said, i feel that those character are different, since we as the readers bassically know that they are alive. unlike Aegon, whom we as readers think dead.

I think you missed my point entirely. It doesn't matter though so long as Aegon stays dead. Let the characters solve their problems with who and what they have now. I'd hate to see that kid come out of nowhere in the 6th or 7th book. Let poor Tyrion be a head of the dragon. Someone needs to cut him a break.

I concur. I think personally, that perhaps some of us have thought something we shouldnt have thought as definate i.e that the dragon having 3 heads MUST all be Targaryen. Perhaps that is not the case. Remember, Jorah Mormont told Dany that the dragon had 3 heads and Aegon had his two sisters and then he offered to be in the role of that and as one of her husbands. I'm sure we all agree that Tyrion's thoughts and comments about wanting to ride a dragon will come to fruition. I just can't see GRRM not having that happen.

In my opinion, Jon, Dany and Tyrion will be the 3 heads of the Dragon. Unless there is something monumental upcoming in the next 3 books?

You dont have to exagerate when it comes to poor Tyrion, he is still a son of one of the most powerful houses in westeros.

And his family has treated him so well that he obviously has no right to complain.

so he didn't get 'along' well with his sister and father. it is not like tywin pulled a sam. he still had jaime as well. his life as a son was fairly easy no matter how you look at it. especially being born dwarf. (in comparison to the comon that is)

i like tyrion, he makes me laugh, but i do get the bit about it being annoying that he goes on and on about all his misfortunes. so certain things where less then nice. that doesn't mean his life in the whole has been bad.

I think you're saying that since he grew up rich and in a life of privelege he had it easy. You can correct me if I'm wrong. Money doesn't buy happiness though. Emotional abuse runs very deep and Tyrion has been emotionally abused his entire life. His father doesn't love him and basically tells him so to his face. His sister hates him and even his loving brother commits his most horrible act against Tyrion. The people of King's Landing hate him simply because he's a dwarf i.e. different. Is there one single character in the entire book, other than Pod, that actually likes Tyrion and isn't being paid to like him? You don't think that hurts?
