Favorite non-main character?

Well. IMO, if we are going without the people of the POV's, then i would have to say....:
-- Rhaegar - if you dont mind that he is dead. Whats bad to say about him. Hes the would be embodyment of my idol.
-- Arthur Dayne - if you still dont mind the dead. Hes a man of honor and kickassness.
-- Eddards frog eating friend of the marshes. Hallow(q?) Reed -- havent heard much of him, but he knows the whole shibang.
-- Maester Aemon -- **spoiler**
if you still dont mind dead people. He was so wise. too bad he couldnt share all of his knowledge
-- Robert B - hes a man who knows how to have a good time, not to mention he is an awesome fighter.... though he did kill Rhaegar. For that point alone I now remove him from the list
-- Jojen and Meera - Theyre helping out my favorite kid! Bran. Complete loyalty.
-- Shagga - hes hilarious. and he also shaved that evul G.M. Pycelle.
-- Pyp - funny
-- Hound - What a beast! Plus he hates Lannisters now.
-- Berric and Thoros of Myr - What a good lad that berric.Thoros saves people. what a lifeguard he would make.
-- Syrio -
-- Jaqen -
-- Gendry -
-- Darcy mormont -
--GREATJON
-- Barristan -
-- Varys - one of my FAVORITES. he seems to have his own schedule.
-- and last but not least COLDHANDS!!!!

He's just a misunderstood youth who happens to like frogs alot.

This band that Bran is leading is looking like something out of the Goonies. Just add Corey Haim and Sean Astin.

Jokes aside (I don't really consider myself very funny) is it explained why he has these green dreams? Could the Reed's be related to the Children of the Forest? Although, his sister Meera or his father Howland does not seem to have them.

at one point (I can't remember where) it says that when the Children were at Moat Cailin trying to bring down the Hammer of Waters on the Andals they became close to the crannogmen(possible intermarriage?) and taught them many of their secrets, such as running on leaves, breathing mud, and becoming invisible.(which Meera and other crannogmen DO possess) I'm guessing the green dreams are just a rarer manifestation of this connection to the Children.

I guess I'm oathbreaking my own rules too, since I'd like to mention Robert, though to call him a non-main character sounds off to me.

I think you'd be okay to call him a non-main character. He wasn't really an active part of cast so much as just a big blob - he was more "settting" than character and needed to be offed for the other characters to get on with their scheming. I think the definition of main characters are characters that grow and develop and... actually do things to affect the storyline. I think Robert stoppped being a main player years ago.

Olenna Tyrell! she's my favourite non-POV character.
Honourable mentions to: Margaery Tyrell... she actually seems rather nice. shes what Sansa could have been had she been raised anywhere BUT Winterfell... nice, beautiful, but not with a head full of fluffy dreams and dashing princes & knights.
Loras Tyrell... heck chuck in the whole Tyrell family. Garlan, Willas and even Mace. I love them all. We need a Tyrell POV. Olenna's please! but any would satisfy.

Ow. I just spit coffee out of my nose. :p

Beyond that...

I second whoever said Strong Belwas.

I'm also gonna miss Aemon Targaryen. :(

Finally, for some strange reason...the "Late Lord Frey" has always resonated, though I'm not sure why..

Maesters Aemon & Luwin (the only ones I'd trust)
Hodor & Old Nan
Varys
Dolorous Edd
Strong Belwas
Syrio
Jaqen
The Old Bear

Screw it, I don't play favorites! I list them all.

Loved to hate Tywin

I like Old Walder Frey myself. Heh. Though he's now totally doomed for violating the guest-right.

Bronn is cool, and who can blame him for not wanting to fight the Mountain?

I'll throw my vote in for Syrio and Maester Aemon, too.

One thing that's great about the series is the depth and motivations of even minor characters. Consider the development of Lancel Lannister, for instance.

Dolorous Edd, Renly, Littlefinger, Walder, Vargo, Podrick, Tywin, Janos, Doran, Jorah, and Aemon all are well written characters. They are not fully fleshed out and their appearances and comments serve to propel one aspect of the story. But they provide either some very memorable comments or needed backdrop and depth.

I forget the name of the person who fought The Mountain with a spear, but he rocked the house like none other.

The old women are the best. Old Nan and the Queen of Thorns. I also enjoyed Syrio Forel. I had high hopes for Arya becoming a water dancer, but I suppose it is not to be.

Edric Storm
Stannis (not really a non-main character, but I like him anyway)
Septon Merribald

Hi all, first post

It's ironic that I would choose the name The Imp and then mention Shae, whoappears to be missing from all of the above posts. Not a great character, but certainly interesting. My apologies if she was already mentioned.

I'd have to say Barristan Selmy.

Yeah? Well I have a stick! *whack whack whack whack crack crack crack*
