There seems to be an ongoing debate regarding which male character the series fans would like to see Sam "with." Register your opinion here!

me... oh wait i am not in it...

Personally, i don't. I do not think it would be a good thing for the show for any of Sam with Teal'c (?), Jack or Daniel. Maybe a bit-character would be good. I think Fraser/Daniel would be interesting though.

I think for the series to be true to the original characters, it would be difficult for Sam to have a permanent relationship with Jack - they are both military.

exactly. and Teal'c is married. Only Daniel is possible from the team i think

Actually, I don't think Danny boy is a good option. Have you noticed his choice of women lately? They are either snakes, or stick him in a sarcophagus, or use that nasty hand device/weapon on him . . . this guy has a nack for picking out nasty women. He'd do better by pining away for Sam. Quietly. Off the air. Not ruining the show.

And Major Hammond is married. I haven't noticed if Dr. Fraser is wearing a ring.

hammond is widowed, wife died of cancer. janet is divorced. and i think if sam goes for anyone it should major davis of pentagon fame. haven't noticed if he wears a ring but i think they would get along well. course i really don't want my fav show to turn into as the stargate turns also.

What can I say? I like it like it is. I would like to see the writers/executive producers put more work and money into going to new and unique planets with new species.

Major Davis or Louis Feretti...oops Feretti is now on Andromeda as Rev Bem so looks like Davis all the way!

well i'm sure they're both taped in canada so ferretti could show up...and unless andromeda improves dramatically, it'll be a miracle if there's a season 2 so he could be back for season 5 as lou ferretti. ( and i've already paired them up once in one of my fic, so doing it on the show suits me just fine):D

Either or both would be fun but then I keep thinking aout Harriman oops Walter Harriman Davis and Siler but both are stations where she is and with the Jack reaction I think Davis is still the best bet. Same Rank and different posting.

And don't the writers plan two nasty (perhaps semi-permanent) shockers for Sam in season 5???

Hey, Brad Wright! We LIKE her character! How would you like to be thrown into the freezer with Maybourne? (I guess you think that just because you can write "Latin for Novices" that you can get away with just about anything, don't you? WRONG! We'll throw your bu__ through the stargate to unknown territory in a heartbeat! Ya think?)

maybe season 5 spoilers ahead

i haven't heard about any shockers except what i've heard about 2010 and that'll all be changed by the end of the eps. though i heard a nasty rumor that she's going to die in front of jack and they declare their undying love as one or both are dying to each other...but that's a really airy rumor that personally sounds more like a fan fic.
what nasty surprises have you heard?
you can e-mail me if you don't wanna post it here

Can't een get my right click to operate this rats. But heard the same rumors you did. Am not happy! Perhaps this is their way of getting around alternative universe problems! SHEESH!

Skydiver has them both right. I'm hanging on to Chris Judge saying that all major characters/actors have been signed on until SEASON 7: YIPPEEEEEE!!!!

So my answer to the who should Sam be with discussion is. . .no one. It is rare, I think, that a person can go through life without being attracted at least once to an unobtainable person. Be they already involved with someone else, married, a ranking officer in the same chain of command, etc.

Proximity and shared experiences play into this equation as well. In the case of Sam and Jack, they share a military background, and work closely on a top secret project that they can't even discuss with their closest confidantes. That is, if they were ever shown on Earth and off base often enough to establish or foster relationships with people outside of the SGC or the USAF. To both O'Neill and Carter, honor, duty and responsibility are more than just words or nebulous concepts. Neither of them would ever act on their feelings. It would simply be inappropriate in the military structure within which they chose to live. And they both realize the possible dangerous repercussions that a relationship between them would have to their careers and to the team.

Very slight spoiler for COTG:

As to Sam and Daniel. . .Sam met Daniel and one of her first impressions was of him in the arms of his adoring wife. As 'healer of the emotionally wounded', I think Sam sees herself more as a supportive friend to Daniel. Particularly considering what he has suffered in his search for Sha're. They too share a scientific background, but approach it from two different directions. Sam and Daniel seem to behave towards each other more as siblings than anything else. Respected equals who speak the same language.

Sam and Teal'c. Well. . .as it has been mentioned, we just haven't seen much interplay between these two. So what could I say?

Thanks for letting me run on a bit. Quite a bit.

That is a very good summation of most of our positions that have already posted, Arcane!
That is why we have the Davis, Ferritti and/or Others in there instead of Sam and Jack or Sam and Daniel.

Good point JSC.

Apologies for the long-winded rehash of good points already made by others.

Arcane,

Your summation was EXCELLENT. I was pointing out that most of us who have posted agree with you and that we posted elsewhere (not always on this site) and that was a summation of all the good things so we can drag it out when the shippers either way (S/J S/D) want to sit and sigh (as it were!)

I was complementing not dising!

Baby, Granny is not subtle! I believes in frying pans and hugs! I was giving you a HUG, GIRL!

LONG WINDED IS ME not thee!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger!!!

Granny has sent more than just a few hugs my way (and thrown a few shoes at me, too)!!!

I have to admit being surprised at times. I really love Stargate, but some of the fans really go berzerker about the S&J deal! Padders (the lucky devil visiting India right now) started a new post about a month ago saying he was very surprised at the harshness (for lack of a better word) on the part of some of the fans on both sides of this issue. He had seen posts that were really fanatic about this, and how some people would quit watching the show if they didn't get their way, and how Daniel should quit the SG team, etc., etc. I posted in and told him I had now been given the true definition of "get a life." I love this show, but I am not expecting E.T. to show up and ask me to build him a telephone anytime soon (but if he needs one, that's no problem; I'll find a way to build him one). My point being: it's just amazing how this particular issue, an issue from a science FICTION television show, can really get people to bring out their soapboxes, stand on them, and yell at each other! It's almost as bad as we get when politics or religion is the issue (No, no. I didn't mean we should go there. They were just examples.)

Anyway, it's good to see you posting your opinions, having a good time, and joining in with the group. Besides, hugs or shoes thrown at you, at least someone ELSE is on my side of the bunker with jsc throwing at them at us together (hehehehehe - just kidding, jsc. Ya know I love you!):)
