LOL... sorry if i am causing confusion....

I have to say i think that site is pretty good... i get all my new info fromm there.... pretty good

http://www.ds9command.co.uk

just in case you forgot it.... lol

NO not at all.... i only got to know him after visiting the site an emailing him about the stuff he was putting up.... got talking to him via emails... and then met up with him at the science museum when they had the trek display on...

Just become mates... liked his site before i knew him...

I really am going now, but if that was the 'Federation Science' exhibition then it was excellent. (I think it still has a few weeks left.) If it was the one that was on a few years ago, this is much better!

yes it was the federation science exhibition.... loved it... very good....

RE: ds9command website

I haven't had time to fully check out this site yet, but it looks interesting, and like it would be very up-to-date. A quick glance gave me a laugh: I love the line "this site is maintained for my own enjoyment so please don't sue me".

:D :D :D

Change of thread direction.

Back to discussion of Series 5....

But not seriously, I think...

Robert Picardo claims that he has floated a proposal to the network of the idea of having a reality-based Star trek that uses no actors. it would have nine contestants who would be real people who would be stranded on an M-class planet. And the first one to come up with a warp-capable vessel with things they can find around the planet would be winner. It's called 'Star Trek: Survivor!'.

RE: Star Trek: Survivor

And now...the most successful Star Trek series ever...

hehe, there are so many reality-based series now----Survivor, Big Brother, Temptation Island, etc. and also the new boot-camp show. They are extremely popular right now.

I know what you mean... Big brother is watching us all the time....

I watched that temptation Island once and thought how cruel it was to do that to people... what are we as a society becoming...

Well, I don't really watch those shows, but the participants are willing. Don't know if it's for the money, or because they want to be celebrities, or just want to see themselves on TV or what...

Sky Teletext says to phone a premium rate number and they will tell you who the new Captain on Series 5 is going to be. And that it is a 'big' science fiction star.

I didn't phone it as I've heard this rumour already, that it is Scott Bakula (he of Quantum Leap). But I also heard that he is in Series 5, but he is not the Captain.

It is likely that he isn't even in it at all, the whole thing being made up. These premium rate numbers make a lot of money. (the 'who wants to be a millionaire' one makes more money than they pay out in prizes).

Does anyone have any real factual information on this?

No factual information, but I have also heard the Scott Bakula rumor.

I heard that -aramount deiberately sent out a casting sheet and leaked it themselves to build up the hype.... and the real casting list has gone to agencies before they leaked the other one.... Naughty Paramount...

Rick Berman talks Series 5 and Star Trek X film.

This is from Trek Today, but the full version will appear in the May 2001 "Star Trek Monthly" magazine.

He talks about Voyager first, giving away nothing about the final episode, as usual.

"For the film," Berman comments, "John Logan, Brent Spiner and I developed a story and we worked quite extensively on it. The studio was very enthusiastic and supportive. The first draft was written and John and I worked a great deal on that. We gave it to the studio and there are some revisions being made now. We are mid-second draft. John is a quick and speedy writer. He's back in Evansville, Illinois, and I'm expecting a second draft from him probably in the next two or three weeks. This will definitely be a post-strike picture. I would guess that the earliest this thing could start shooting would be October, and that would be assuming there is no strike. It's all up in the air now."

"Series V," on the other hand, he remarks, "is truly where my heart is right now, where my blood and toil have been. We're in pretty much full-gear. We are in prep on it. Brannon and I wrote the script. We've gotten a tremendous amount of positive reinforcement from everyone at Paramount who has read it. It's not exactly certain where it's going to end up, but it will most likely be UPN. We are in full pre-production. We've been working with Herman Zimmerman on both interior and exterior designs. In fact, I believe we will be hammering the first nails within the next few weeks on a stage that's currently being used for Vanilla Sky, a movie with Tom Cruise. We're starting to hire people. The casting process will be starting pretty soon. And I believe we will begin our two-hour premiere sometime in May."

And what about the effect of the increasingly expected writers and actor's strikes? "We'll certainly get the premiere done before the strike. We'll possibly get the premiere and one one-hour episode in before the strike. As far as what happens after that, we'll see. The way to look at it is if there's a strike, we'll have a premiere and possibly another episode that will be cut and finished and ready to air."

Well, you can't get much more official than Rick Berman! He doesn't seem to like to give too much away, though.

I read that Berman also acknowledges that the regular cast of Series 5 will include 5 humans and 2 aliens. (This does not necessarily mean he is acknowledging that particular rumored cast list we have discussed before.)

As for ST: X, many people are expecting the storyline to be top-notch, judging from the success of Gladiator. (BTW, I haven't seen Gladiator. Has anyone else?)
