you are watching Dark Angel, filmed in Vancouver also and you start listing off all of the actors you have seen on Stargate episodes and you know what episode and the name of the character :)

you join the SCG on Showtime's Stargate SG-1.com and wager with your best friend on who will make Colonel first.

you give the symbols on the Stargate dialer sequence names like: dipper, dinosaur, crocodile, beaker, ect... then while watching an episode try to name as many symbols as possible

you watch the show and recognize a location they've used before...like they used the same sand dunes for tok'ra, serpents song, abydos...and pretty much every other desert planet

the same market square in secrets was also the outdoor cafe in foothold

and i'd swear the front of the air force academy hospital was the back of the mental health facility they stuck daniel in

when you see the light, you know it ain't colorado...cause there aren't any mountains. (and colorado springs doesn't have a harbor...)
 
Location

They're not as bad as when they filmed 'MacGyver', 'The Sentinel' or some of the 'X-Files' about it, but you can still catch the occasional mail truck that says 'Postal/Poste' or a building that's says 'Centre' rather than 'Center'.

Worse still. You watch the episode and go "Oh my God thats the river bed they used in Highlander, Didnt Duncan Macleod fall off that cliff?"
Or in Dark Angel "Wow thats the road out of the X-Files."
 
locations

I live in Tacoma, WA - an easy three hour drive south of Vancouver, BC and know a lot of these locations. It makes it fun to watch, but can sometimes be one heck of a distraction.
 
a few years ago i went to california and saw universal studios...did the whole tourist sightseeing thing, earthquake ride all that...anyway when i went back home and watched sliders(that'll date me for sure) i recognized some of hte places i'd been as being where they shot the show. i went shopping in an arcade where they shot an eps...i think they shot a scene in the backdraft fire exhibit...it was sorta fun but also took a little of the fun outta it cause i knew it wasn't 'real'
 
My auntie lives near Vancouver and the last time she was here she was tellin me an episode of the X-Files was filmed just down the street from where she lives. She doesnt even watch it!!!!!!
 
Location Shoots

One of the things we did at GateCon2000 [and are planning this year] is a 'tour' of the various SG-1 locations that they've shot.

I hear it was a blast, but this year? We'll make sure it's even better. :}

You're visiting your parents in Baton Rouge, LA and they take you to see the huge sandcastle display being built at the mall (Mall of Louisiana). It's based on children's stories and the focal point is the 30' tall re-creation of OZ in the center.

All I could think was, "Jack would love this!" If only it were in shiny green technicolor instead of sand. . .

I do the Dialer Sequence and call them things like "froggy, safety pin, soccer guy, chicken bone, hour glass etc! Hehehehee!

Sibling in-fighting includes jealousy over the fact your sis gets to watch it more often than you do.

You now filk to EVERY song you hear.

Your roomie calls you master in Goa'uld when she thinks you're getting too bossy

You write an MFU fanfic because you think of how insanely cool it would be to have people like Jarod, Sydney, Sandburg, Ellison, Zed, K and J... Etc... in with the Stargate program!

You obsess with finding other television programs that the actors of SG-1 have been in i.e. you watch endless reruns of "Mcguyver" (sp?) to see RDA

You praise your lucky stars that RDA was born in January too

You shuddered then got an evil gleam in your eye when your orthodontist says "Now you have to wear snakes" and then giggle and he stares at you because the last time you had to wear them they were so painful you cried the whole time.

You endure said "snakes" just to be able to brag that you have snakes in your head.

Your roomie stares at you until you explain, then threatens to frag you for your own good... Then laughs evily "heheheheheeh"

You don't look at slugs, eels, or gummie worms the same way...

Laa laaaaaaaa! (too much time alone!)

When you spend your interval and lunch breaks at school on the incredibly fast computers in the school computer room and the teacher gets so sick of you that she blocks certain sg1 sites from your access.
