Dogs in Space?

Klingons have Targs, but they eat those. The Heart of Targ is a delicacy. I think that's the reason they keep them on their ships, not out of kindness, and they look more like Wild Boar than dogs.

Vulcans have pet Sehlats. Spock had one called I-Chaya.

A giant teddy bear or Ewok with six inch fangs, it was shown in an animated episode called "Yesteryear" -- Spock had one. But they have been mentioned elsewhere too, Amanda says Spock had a sehlat as a pet in "Journey to Babel" TOS.

OK unrelated but big question need answered fast, what's Spock's mother's name?

OT: Nothing to do with dogs.

Amanda..?

She was his biological mother, which is how she would know he had a sehlat.

But, Sarek, his father was married before to a Vulcan princess, who had his step-brother Sybok, and then again later to Perrin, another Earth woman.

I believe you. It is strange I suppose to take dogs or any other animal into space but this is TV we're talking about.

annette
Porthos is far from the first dog in space.
The Russians put over a dozen up, during the Sputnik experiments.
What they didn't manage quite so well was getting them back.

The first was Laika, a Jack Russell, in 1957.
As I recall, she had a uniform- Well okay a hat, complete with little holes for ears. As, as point of fact, did the chimps the Americans used a few years later
