Dogs in Space?

I believe you. It is strange I suppose to take dogs or any other animal into space but this is TV we're talking about.

just makes me curious as this is the first mission for starfleet and they are pretty slack for first timers

Perhaps they are using this as an experiment to see how things are handled. It obviously worked in one respect as we see Data with Spot in TNG.

hmm, didn't anyone else wonder during this ep, 'isn't Porthos going to suffocate in there'? I'd love to take my doggie everywhere but I don't have a car, so where she can't walk, she can't go.:(

PLease dont post spoilers... lol...

I know what u mean but dont think others in the UK have seen the epy yet

thanx Dave, I figured as much but I'll put a spoiler space anyways next time just incase.;)

i give in...

I just dont see the point... no one else would be allowed to take a 'PET' on board..

Hoshi had a slug, the original Enterprise had Tribbles, the Enterprise-D had a biology lab full of animals for the children, and has a dolphin aquarium with dolphin navigators.

To change tack a little (yes it's a funny thread, but I am annoyed about something.) Dogs are a lifeform specific to Earth, Yes or No?

Presumably the presevers or the Q or whatever wouldn't seed the Galaxy with dogs?

So, although I can almost believe Humanoid species live throughout the galaxy. I find it hard to beleive how dogs do too. I remember an episode of Voyager which talked about dogs. I forgave that as either a single mistake, or else a reference to dogs in the metaphysical sense; of dog-like pets that were, like dogs, man's best friends. Now in 'Two Nights and Two Days' ENT there are more problems with that:
On Risa, Archer's neighbour, Keyla has a real Dog. She isn't what she seems, but is an altered Tandaran. But the dog is a dog, so what's its excuse for being 80 Light Years from Earth!
