Meridian

Most religions believe that the spirit/soul goes on to a better place when we die. It doesn't stop anyone from grieving for the person who has died, who will be missed.

Yes, Daniel has ascended to a higher plane/better place. However the remaining members of SG1 will naturally grieve for the friend they will no longer see - knowing he is still 'out there' is not the same.

J

Without a doubt the team would grieve for their friend, I don't think that anyone would argue with that at all.

But the weeping that I was referring to was that of the fans!

I just wish they would stop doing the esoteric and metaphysical sh*t, because that stuff is unbelievable at the best of times....and takes what was originally a reasonably grounded show into the realms of fantasy.

It was an ok episode...in Michael's own words..I think they just chickened out so as not to get a back lash from all the Danny fans.

I have not really got too much to say on the whole subject.

I think it was a little on the sad side with Sam and Teal'cs goodbyes but not to the point of balling my eyes out.

On a different note I thought like Anni that Corin Nemec did a really good job, I like him! :D

Almost completely lost for words! If that had been the first season, I probably would stop watching! I agree with all the previous comments.

One good thing is that Jack has begun reading intelligence reports again -- He knows that SG3 brought back a Sarcophagus without having to ask Sam!

But the ending was dire!

Jack: So, see you around?
Daniel: I don't know!
Jack: Hey! Where are you going?
Daniel: I don't know!
Jack: Hey! Where is this show going?
Daniel: I don't know!

OK! I added a line or two there, but they just missed them out!

LOL

Very well said!!! ;)

I'm guessing that there are a fair few people out there suffering from dehydration and salt depletion :D

And yes, I'm one of them...

Actually, I thought it was very well done, and fantasy? No, actually. It wasn't that far off. Floaty light a bit too big and the wrong colour, but otherwise not too bad.

As regards Joshua, I'm still prepared to give him a chance, but so far, sorry, he's just 2D cardboard. With a better script he might loosen up a bit though he doesn't feel right - a bit like Riley in Buffy. Not enough substance. I haven't written him off altogether but he has a *lot* of work to do.

Best wishes,

K, I haven't seen it yet but here's a potentially stupid question. Whey can't Danny just come back into human form like Orlan did in Asention at the beginging of this season?

I think if he is to return to the series, he will "descend" (??), but at this moment in time, he chose Ascension and is following a new path...

No, because he is a good actor. Having watched it a second time - more critically, now I know the plot. It occurred to me that he acted the socks off the rest of the cast, which made me think that maybe - just maybe - that's why he's moved on <sob>

I thought Teal'c's offering and comments were very touching :)

P.S. Teal'c doesn't get to say much - "only when it is appropriate" ;) - but he always makes it count :)

Not great episode, story or acting. The sam/janet euthenasia moral exchange was so short it was not worth bothering with. Flaws such as questioning Jack at the end. Just seemed rather strange. Would have been far better to kill him off completly than this. Oh well, enjoyed a few of the last episodes a lot so I guess a bad one had to happen. Quite hard I guess to kill him off but allow him to come back later.

actually i woulda just sent him off on a really, really long survey mission with an archaeological team...or have him kidnapped by a goauld or something more mundane

but no one asked me

now...glow me??? someone's been hanging around with jack too long.
then again, always did say danny was a bright boy

Beginning or the End

Thoughts after all this waiting:

* All in all, some lovely moments in this send-off, touching. Sam's and Teal'c's scenes very nice. They are all marvelous actors.
*Didn't expect the flashback format. Interesting spin.

Now I shall eat, drink and be merry.

ummm

Daniel was always my favortie character being as he was tottally into ancient egypt and what not. Now with his parting which was actually kinda sad for me in a way specialy considering its' just a tv show. I kinda just can't see Parker Lewis take Daniel jackson's spot but maybe I ain't cutting him enough slack. Anyways I know I will still watch Stargate but next season i know I am gonna feel all the time as though something is missing, but the bright side is can't wait for him to make a cameo next season which I am sure is gonna happen but most likely to be the series final.

..His part was the only bit I found moving...and the end part was awful.

oh don't tell me it's one of the those lets save money flash-back eps. How blaa:dead:

also seemed a bit of a cop out that sg-1 knew he had gone to a higher plan. Might have been better if they had left not knowing what had happened. But then perhaps this will be harder to deal with knowing he is dead but is not dead... who knows.

No actually. Without giving anything away I hope, the flashbacks didn't so much go back to previous episodes as build up the story of how Daniel became damaged.

'damaged'...that's an interesting term. My dogs SPCA certificate says she's been 'altered' which I thought was a funny name for being spayed:rolleyes:
