Space Precinct

Is that the "magnificent seven" western gunslingers film series, which in turn is based on the seven Japanese Samuri?

I've never heard of a series, but it could be that it hasn't been shown over here yet. Westerns aren't on TV in Britain much at all these days, I remember when I was young that they were very popular. The plots are often quite similar to SciFi -- the lawless frontier, hard life, mans world, and the unknown territory -- but I never watched them, except for the High Chaparral.

Going very off topic now -- did anyone watch 'The Fantastic Journey' (1977) TV series (Lief Erickson was in both). I thought it had good potential but was a bit rubbish. And it had Roddy McDowell in it too.

The beauty of almost all of Andersons productions is that they are ageless in appeal.

From Boys Own Daring Do of Thunderbirds, web footed aliens in Stingray, dastardly spies in Joe 90, mysterious Mysterons and gentle treatment of the human psych in Space Precinct. I have found that not only my son enjoys them, but my grandchildren do and as much as me.

Even Fireball and the deidedly dated UFO have a quaint charm.

Space Precinct was a novel Sci-Fi series in its own way. It worried less about the wonderful technology and pyrotechnics, and more about the characters. It always managed to be light and fresh with enough action not to become dull, even though many of the storylines could have come straight from Hill Street Blues.

It should have gone on longer. But not too much longer (perhaps another season) or it would have lose its charm.

I enjoyed watching this. Hasn't it been screened on the sci-fi channel at some point? If my brain were still alive I would try and watch this again. I liked the stars in it too.

Space Monkey says they are making new 'Captain Scarlet' episodes.

I've split this thread now, so we can keep this for a discussion of 'Space Precinct' and put his other endeavours in the other thread.

With Space Precinct I thought it good that humans and aliens worked along side with each other. Seemed to be no animosity between the staff. Loved some of the aliens created.

The show sure was good as it'sa different from other things that he's done & like has already been memtioned it showed humans & aliens working along side each other & becoming good friends too.

Dave, a Gerry Anderson mini forum been set up yet?, if so can you please, please, please post a link here for it.
