Starburst Interview

LOL
all of em. the pants were white (underpants for the yanks around here), her teeth, peter william's teeth...and if he wasn't so dark complected he woulda been mighty read.
probably just like don was as he sashayed up the aisle in his green shirt wiht a very red face...and hathor's wig on his head.

LOL, I saw those pics and nearly laughed my butt off!!! :D :D
Now picture Hammond doing that instead of Don and you're ready for one of MacKenzie's famous valuations...:D :p

lol, yes, I think we are due for an episode where something happens to Hammond for a change!!!

wouldn't you just love to see an epy where Hammond plays a joke on the team? Or on Janet? That would be hilarious! :rolly2:

I suppose the cloest one to that wuld be Proving Ground ... But they tend to do like one 'amusing' ep per seires, so maybe in 6....

Ok one question. MS said he wants to leave the show, the producers come up with a storyline that allows him to return (they could have killed him off completely) and MS complains about it????? What did he want? To be begged to stay????
I like MS but it does seem like nothing the producers could have done would have made him happy. Was it more money? Or did he want Daniel to become the central pivot in the show? He states himself that he had discused this with the producers before hand and in my mind there are plenty of Daniel eps in seasons 4 and 5. Some of his best eps in my opinion. (Hated all that soppy Share stuff!!)
before Stargate what roles had MS actually had? I have seen him in one ep of the outer limits. He certainly hadnt done anything major. So he get a big role on a series, which becomes pretty big in the sci fi world. But after a few years its not enough anymore, he wants to move on to bigger and better things. Well noone could blame him for that. I hope his career goes well for him. But think he should be grateful for what Stargate did for him. Remins me of Carrie Fisher in Star wars. Made her rich and famous and then she spent yars saying it ruined her life and was the cause of all her problems!

To my mind, Carrie Fisher had a lot more to complain about...... that awful hairstyle! Just like a couple of bloody earmuffs! I reckon she's spent most of her time trying to live that one down!

No matter what the MS fans want to say, in my not so humble opinion, he will sink without trace. I can't see him hitting the Hollywood bigtime any time soon. He's a pretty face, that much is true, but he'll need to be a bit more savvy about public speaking if he wants to get anywhere with the big sharks.

If he has any sense, he'll hightail it back to the Canadian theatre circuit and get some much needed acting expertise and experience.

<Anni gets out her elephant gun and helmet and waits for the flak to hit!>

   :D

I think it's really annoying when MS fans complain that he was killed off, but then if they'd just done him resigning or something, well, they wouldn't be happy with that either!! So I don't think everyeone can be appeased.

LOL, don't worry, Anni!

DragonBaby, it's exactly what MS said himself:

"...and in the initial years Stargate was a lot more of what I hoped the series would be. As I got older my desire of what I wanted became more specific. I mean, when you do a show for as long as I did Stargate SG-1, you start off as a 'young hopeful', as it were, sitting in the gate, waiting to do stuff and eager to do whatever is thrown at you. Then naturally you want to be doing more as the show progresses, yet I found myself going in the opposite direction and saw my character being involved less in stories." Cult Times #77 Feb 2002

I think it's a natural progress that you're reaching for the stars. If you'd always be satisfied with what you already achieved...(quote Torment of Tantalus)

In the beginning Jack and Daniel were the focus of the show, but it changed it's premise and now we can see soppy Jack/Sam babble, NID conspiracy stories, a completely silent Teal'c and barely the initial 'Let's gate to a new planet, explore new cultures, get problems with new goa'ulds etc'-stories...

I think it's sad.
And I think MS made a good decision when he left, because like he said himself he had the choices of being unsatisfied, staying in that trying situation or drawing a line and saying: Well, okay, it's not what I want anymore so bye!
I think what bothered him so much was that they were a family for five years and not anyone tried to do anything to make him stay. They were always telling him: 'Don't worry, it's just a period....', but nothing changed over the years. And when he said good-bye they obviously weren't very sad, but were in fact like: 'Oh, okay, don't let the door hit your butt on the way out.'

I think he is well aware of the fact that he won't have his great and big breakthrough in Hollywood now. He has to work hard if he wants to stay in the buissness. And he knows Stargate wasn't as supporting for his career as many people might think, just because the show became big.
He said that when he gets casted and they read 'Stargate SG-1' on his CV it's not like: 'Great, that was you!' In fact it's: 'Oh...never seen the show but heard about it...which one were you? Ah, the one with the glasses...okay.'

Summer.......that is really really sad. To both hear and no doubt for him to admit. Believe it or not, I do feel a great deal of sympathy for him. I think he let the whole Stargate fandom thing gain too big a hold of his acting life. It was too much too quick and he simply didn't have the experience to deal with it properly. I have no doubt at all that old hands like Don Davis and even Amanda, who has quite a few acting experiences both theatre, movie and TV under her belt, tried to guide him as best they could. I also have a feeling that this was why they were so genuinely distressed at the idea of him leaving, apart from the fact that they had all become 'family'.

I wasn't being awful when I said that he should go back to the theatre circuit. The thing is, that theatre is a much more disciplined career structure and there is no room for big heads. He would get grounded there and also, it would give him space away from the cretins that run the movie business, he would gain a good reputation among the serious actors and theatre directors. Eventually, the Stargate phenomenon would fade into the background and he would still be young enough and pretty enough to try again.

God.....listen to me! Auntie Anni's Agony Column! Just you listen to me Michael and you'll do fine! ROTFLMAO.....

 :D

LOL, yeah! I really think he should get in touch with you!
And don't get me wrong...cos you wrote that you weren't being awful when you wrote he should go back to theatre. I never intended to say anything like that. In fact I totally agree with you.
But I think he should also keep his eyes open in the TV/movie buissness in order to not miss a good chance if he gets a good script. :D
And yes, I too think it is sad that SG didn't help his career very much, but I think it definately helped him explore the buissness and he's been given the chance to direct, not to mention the experience he made during those five years (and I mean acting experience aswell as how hard and short-living the buissness can be). I think that's priceless.
But I have to admit that I think he evolved over those years...he was still a bit green behind the ears when he started working on SG, but he seems to have grown-up and he definately is a better actor than he was in the beginning (I'm not talking oscar-wise here...LOL). Just compare a season five episode with a season one epsiode. :D :D

Well, all I can say is that I wish him good luck! :p

many months ago when MS first announced that he was leaving, some were rather critical of him...how dare he leave and all that. I said then, and i say now, it takes guts to leave what would be a steady paycheck for another year and cast himself upon the waters as it may be, ie quitting one job without having another lined up. i wished him luck then, and i do now.

i can see how very, very easy it can be to let all the press and the such go to your head. here's hoping he can use this as a learning and growing experience and find himself a role that he will be happy with.

many actors have said that their first love is the theatre...maybe it's that way for him as well.

I'm really starting to worry about you Anni. Before we know it, you'll be joining the Danielites list.

I agree with Skydiver, it took guts for him to leave a steady paycheck, and I hope he finds work.

I also think the show will be worse without him. However, it will be interesting to see how Jonas works out. (I'm still hoping for Sam/Jonas ship.)

(I'm ducking already . . . )

I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!! LET'S GET ON WITH IT!!! GET TO WORK ON MAKING SEASON 6 BETTER THAN THE PILE OF **** (with a few exceptions) THAT SEASON 5 IS!!!

(yeah, I know, I know. shoes being heaved at my head as I speak. :( )
