There was a definite chemistry between Sam and McKay...not the conventional kind, surely, but the unorthodox, offbeat kind where the woman would, in many ways, be the stronger party in the pairing. It has humor, brains and fireworks, and frankly, McKay comes up with some of the best lines of dialogue I've heard on the show in 3 seasons.

The whole Sam/Jack thing is a bit shopworn for me. Jack's suppressed the whole thing to the point where it's become moribund, and he's already telling her to shut up all the time, in his way. A bit of that in a personal relationship and they'd be history in no time at all.

Bizarro; I agree. Jack called her an egghead for crying out loud! He is very unsympathetic to her feelings, and he doesn't show her any respect for the fact she is about 100 times cleverer than he is. He hasn't shown her any repect since Entity, or perhaps 2001.

I like the rapport theu have going, and I am merely saying that Mackay would suit Sam better than Jack coz they can talk on the same level, etc. She deserves better than Jack!

Thanks SP. I also agree with Bizarro. For every S/J shippy moment there are at least 10 'Sam spouts technobabble while Jack's eyes glaze over with boredom'/'Jack plays dumb (I hope it's an act) while Sam rolls her eyes' scenes.

Even the ostensibly shippy eps fail to convince me (e.g. 100 days - Jack cuts Sam's technical explanation for the meteor shower short with a curt "don't suck the fun out of it", then he moves in Laira the next day and spends his time partying.) Or Solitudes - Jack hallucinated that Sam was his wife. Just how does that constitute Sam/Jack true love?

I just want to say that Sam and McKay would never work because the only thing they have in common is their scientific background. And he feels intimidated by her because Sam is an 'artist' like he says in Redemption Part 2 and he thinks he's not. In the end he'll only learn to resent her because she can think up stuff he can't and that eats a relationship.
So I think that they would split up even before they would get together. As for Jack well he understands more then he lets on. He just loves to hear Sam explain things.
