This game is made from the fans for the fans. It's made for fun and will be free for download. We're working here in our spare time and it's very insulting to get a post like that:
I was having a conversation with some friends of mine the other day and we said that there should be a Stargate game, anyway, one of the guys works for a games company and said if we could come up with fan numbers (ie potential buyers) he could approach their dev team and see how it went from there.
What do you think we are making here? Well guess what it's a Stargate game.:mad:

Every race and every piece of equipment should have an advantage and a disadvantage, so that there is some price to consider in choosing, acquiring and using.
I know that... :) That's why I'm takeing my time with the units. I'm not rushing and not distracted, I'm working now only on the Units... When they are ready I'll move on the buildings and then everything else. :)
I've had some experience as a writer for a computer fantasy game (company tanked, so don't ask )

Well, someone who is really good at making 3D models (texturing them at first). I don't know exactly how textures in War 3 are made but I think they are made in special isolated file and models are textured in game........that's my opinion.

Models and stuff...

Hi,
First of all you have to make them more symetrical. I think that there is an option for that in 3ds. You could make the one half of the model and then using this option to make the other. (As I've said before I've never used 3ds so don't ask me where it is ;)) About the current model... I'm not sure if the Death glider looks that way... try to find some pics on the Internet or maybe Reaver.man could show it some series on DVD where it's shown.
As for textures... try to get a program named Body Paint 3d I think It's a part of Cinema4D... I've heard that's good and easy to use.
The textures in WC3 are in a separete file with an extension .blp but I can easily import/export in that format. Check this program out and if you still don't want to make the textures... well then we have to find someone to do it... give it a try :)
Did you get that plug-in working that I gave you?

Different species with different weaknesses? The show already has this inbuilt


Goa'uld: Very powerfull weaponary and such, normal breeding capacity, very long lives, Can't work together to save themselves. You'd have to have Goa'uld factions engaging in near-war between themselves as well as other groups. In effect breaking the Goa'uld forces into quite small sub-groups. Always bickering, sometimes murdering each other, never really working together. They all need hosts, so can't really *wipe out* the tau'ri

Tau'ri: Wide range of weaponary, some powerful, some quite primitave, some primitave but usefull (P-90, Explosives etc). Widely dispersed groups from various planets, not always able to co-operate... sometimes at war with each other in small (or wide scale, but only on a planetary level) conflicts with own species on own planet. Supseptability to being taken as hosts with possible security problems that presents. No or limited interstellar travel without a stargate. Normal Breeding capacity, perhaps a little higher than average.... VERY SHORT LIVES!. Don't need other species to survive.


Asgard: Very powerful weaponary which outclasses the Goa'uld. Very close community that work together extremely well (from what we have seen at least). Very quick learning capacity. Single government with a very large amount of planets. little or no conflicts within their species. Very long lives. Very fast hyper travel and other transport devices and general technology superior to many, if not all, other species.
Weaknesses

Live in different galaxy, so are somewhat remote from the happenings... though this can be an advantage too.

*Cannot reproduce very quickly at all. If a Asgard is killed quickly in a hostile environment, his death is quite a large event since they cannot transferr his mind into a new body, therefore the indivitual ceases to exist and the asgard loose a number from their species count.

Replicators:
These guys don't have many weaknesses at all... really. but let's see...

Strengths. Impossibly fast reproduction rate. weapons as strong (and stronger very quickly) as anybody they meet. Very quick learning ability. Ability to take over a ship and absorb a fleet into their own, instead of just destroying it. They can kill a species fleet without any losses, only gains. (enter battle with 4 ships versus 5, walk out of battle with 9 ships) Absolute and unquestioning obedience between 'individuals' infact, individuals don't exist really. in essence they are all one... No replicator will attack another for personal gain! because they are computerized do they really die? Sure individual pieces can be destroyed, but unless all of them are destroyed, has any real 'death' taken place? Very quick to learn, adapt, and adapt technology to their own needs by changing the tech itself. Perfect teamwork accross whole ship distances. Able to absorb most if not all energy weaponary, therefore being immune to destruction in many circumstances. Extremely long lives. It is unknown how long an individual replicator piece can naturally live outside of a battle environment... possibly indeftinatley.

Weaknesses. Not much... but new replicators must be made out of existing materials, so taking over old rusting submarines turns out old rusting replicators LOL. The complex workings of individual peices can be destroyed by high velocity impacts from small objects (ie bullets) No other weaknesses yet known.


Tok'ra: Same as Goa'ould, but do work together... yet they are a very small group, and don't seem to have a way of reproducing. They live by scavanging leftovers and stolen parts from the Goa'uld.

Okay let's collect everything we know about the Replicators...
They have some sort of 'acid' that they 'spit'.
They are in close combat.
They are small and cheap.
They have a Queen that builds Replicators.
They have an advanced form of Replicators, those that adapt a human form, and one which can read the minds of those they touch.
They can overtake enemy ships and technology.

Are there any 2d specialists or web designers that are willing to help?

What's with the other 3D guys? Are they working on something? You have the Units.txt so you can start with modeling the other units. Start with those that are seen in the series and leave the others that we've thought out for later. :cool: I'm awaiting to see some of your works.

The Alliance are now only The Asgard.
There are new units.
The Nox and Ancient units are going to be Neutral.
The Goa'uld Queen and Ash'rack are going to be Heroes.

i would help if i could, unfortunately all i can really do is web site html (a tiny bit of php) and a bit of photoshop graphics which aren't really up to much, however i would deffo purchase a stargate strat game... like red alert kinda thing, i also think you should get to choose between teams like if you want to be the goa'uld, or a particular system lord. Or if you want to be earth fighting with the asguard etc, and as time goes on your technology gets better kind of thing, it has potential to be the best game ever released man i would love to see it happen!!

HUMAN BUILDINGS + RESEARCH -completed ;-)

1) BaseCamp HQ
- main structure
- produces "heroes"

- upgrades:
a) naquada reactor
-needed to build Defence Tower MK2, Shipyards and Prometheus Docking Bay
-costs a lot of naquada to build

b) Defence HQ -visually adds 1 building to the BaseCamp
-needed to build "Defence cannon 1", "Defence cannon 2", "Defence cannon MK2" and "Stargate Defence System"
-"Automated Defence Towers" can be upgraded here
