Season 7 is a "GO"/Shanks' return

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And his behaviour in the following months was very unprofessional.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

In relation to MS, what is this referring to ? what unprofessional behaviour ?

Regards,

Arthur

Well the plot device is there to bring him back to sg-1.
Season 5's Ascension makes that easy enough...but I don't think they should.
Give CN a chance to work with JQ in the same way AT did with SC. I _hated_ SC during the first season, but look what she did to it later on.

The plot device makes DJ's return too easy and the death of any beloved character an unexceptional experience. The writers can create some heart-rending final moment, then Oma can pop in, glow him and return him to corporeal form, all before the credits roll. No need to commit to a realistic finality.

Since the decision was made for DJ to ascend, I think the return of MS should be bound by that decision. Let DJ remain ascended and hampered by the glow collective's rules.

I think losing JQ would be a waste of a developing character and unfair to a fine actor. I'd be happy if the team had all five aboard.

Exactly the reason the writers have prevented the Tau'ri from obtaining a sarcophagus. Someone dies? No probs. Chuck'em in the box till they get some colour back in their cheeks.
They just found their sarcophagus...and it glows.

plot ideas

And exactly the reason the ascension was written - to allow for a possible return. There must be some reason that the character is being brought back and it's not just on the whim of the actor who might like to return. No one person has that sort of pull. Not even RDA could keep the show going if MGM or Sci-Fi decided to pull the plug. We're in a spot of 'wait and see'. perhaps we should do just that.

And as for the comment about 'unprofessional behaviour', I would be interested in what prompts that with examples.

I'm sorry, but we had four threads about season seven and the return of Michael Shanks (in whatever form) here in SG General Discussion so I merged them all.
Hope that's okay...Summer :D

Thanks ...

No problem. Thanks for doing that. :}

Row

Thank YOU for the great news, Rowan!!!
I know not everyone is happy Daniel's coming back, but I for one can't wait to see how they'll bring him back and how they're gonna deal with the new situation of having both Daniel and Jonas on the team...although I have to admit that I'm a little confused. Contrary to popular opinion that Corin Nemec has signed a two-year-contract Robert Vogel (who else...lol) said at the Gate Days Con that he talked to Corin and he told him that he had just a one-year-contract. When it runs out after season six (which would be right about...now!) he has the choice between staying, signing a new contract, and going...not too sure what to make of it...

What may happen...

I know in a couple of the articles I read today, it said that RDA and MS had already signed contracts, but others were still to be signed. I don't know - time will give us all the details on that.

I am just happy that *all* the possibilities and potentials for the SGC and SG-1 are now available to us - Jack, Sam, Teal'c, Daniel and Jonas: in what ever way they present themselves.

Joe Mallozzi, a producer of the show, posted on the SG-1 Team e-mail list tonight the following:

> Season 7 will see the return of Michael Shanks as the character of Daniel Jackson returns to the team. I'm happy for his fans (and
judging from the posts, I judge you're all pretty damn happy as
well). I just hope that now that the original team has been
reunited, you'll all do your part to help heal the rifts in fandom
and reunite that original spirit as well.<

I whole heartedly agree with Joe. It's time to come together and heal. From the sounds of it, we'll each have something that we all enjoy. I plan to make the most of it.

:D

Rowan

Couldn't possibly agree more with you, Rowan! :D

*sings: Love is in the air...lalala...* :D :D :D

Congratulations

:D To all the fans and viewers who managed the highly unlikely, if not the impossible: influencing corporations to reverse a decision. Grass-roots fan campaigns have a reputation for being rather futile; it's good to know that once in a while, it works!

Can't wait to see Daniel Jackson BACK...now if only the writing goes back to Season 1-3 levels, we'll all be doing the happy dance!

congratulations to all the daniel fans who want their character back. I just hope sam and jonas don't get tossed back into the background....both of them have had a good chance for character development this season, and it'd be a shame for sam to get tossed back into technobabble girl and token female and jonas to get his walking papers.

time will tell.

*phew* im sooo happy that dannys back! i missed him so much!!! only 1 question........... what happens to Jonas? hes signed at least a 2 yr contract??

he will still be there, but i think that danny is only gonna be making visits, mabye routine visits but visits none the same, while jonas remains the 4th member of Sg-1:rolly2:

actually, no one knows at this point. Yes, he signed a two year contract, however most contracts have a 'we've changed our mind, we don't want you anymore, here's your severance check...see ya' clause.

As of Saturday, it was said that CJ and CN were not signed for season 7. Time will tell if Corin is back or if he's sent on his merry way

There is a chat transcript on www.gateworld.net with N John Smith (I think) that heavily suggests that while neither CN or CJ have signed yet, they are fully expected to. So... yay!

i always liked daniel though i admit the violent uproar over his
departure really turned me off. when people started getting so
fanatical - as if daniel was the be all and end all of the entire
show - it actually put me off the character. i felt i never really
got to grieve his departure coz i just couldn't separate it from all
the politics - and now he's coming back and i don't know WHAT to
think.
i guess all we can do is wait and see what the writers come up with.
