What may this mere mortal, this poor misplaced alien do to win your forgiveness? Jonas' sins are not of his own making, but are those of the writers and producers, at whose mercy his fate lies.

Oh, don't worry, I know full well where the blame lies for the Disaster That is Quinn. What would it take to make Quinn accpetable? Well, a complete rewrite of 'Meridian' in which Quinn is introduced as a believable character. That would do it... :)

I mean, he wouldn't have to be perfect, wouldn't need to have super powers. That would be just too boring. ;) Having a few character flaws is good, just NOT the ones he was actually saddled with.

Will you not add your voice to intercede for him? Have pity on him and do not give him over to dark forces nor demand that his life be sacrificed in atonement for past deeds that were not of his making.

Um, no.

There are many who loved Daniel and mourned his loss, cursing the man who blackened his name and brought him to death (well, almost death -- something almost but not quite like death -- ok, well, transcendence which is reversable in the malleable world of the writers). Yet we have come to appreciate Jonas' smile and good humour, his devotion and his bravery.

Well, 'The Smile' made me cringe in Meridian, and as to the rest of it, thanks to TPTB and their Monstrous Creation, I haven't been able to watch most of the current season, and thus have seen nothing to change my mind. Sorry. :(

And the all wonderful spin that they've been lathering on the poor guy to make him appear acceptable is just papering over the cracks and doesn't alter the basic crumbling edifice. Again, sorry.

We have found it in our hearts to forgive. Surely, mighty Queen, you have it in you to as much.

Um, no. Not unless TPTB employ me as a scriptwriter to try and salvage something from the mess they got themselves into. :wink2:

Your humble servant (and professional groveller :D),

webmouse

ROFL! And beautifully grovelled, too!

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut, the Adamantine

Sorry, Jonas, I tried. Seems that TPTB have really done a real number on you from your inception and you're stuck with it.

Since there's no way to rewrite "Meridian" and all the eps following (ah, for a working time machine -- the wonders that I could perform!) no doubt TPTB will create some new hash to yank attention back to the resurrected Daniel, leaving poor Jonas in the dust -- perhaps literally.

If death is to be your lot, Jonas, I hope at least it will be a noble sacrifice. You deserve at least that chance.

Hey, I already said I don't automatically go with a death sentence. I only voted that way because there wasn't any other viable option.

You're quite right that TPTB stitched hin up from the start. How to set a character up to fail right from the start!

I would happily have voted for:

* Quinn turns traitor - again ;)

or

* Quinn reveals that he's a master criminal hiding out on whatever planet will have him until he can find a better one.

or

* Quinn returns to Colona

or even, so help me,

* Quinn becomes a diplomat on some other planet. - Send him to the Tok'ra...

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut, the Rationalist

 poor Quinn dealing with Tok'ra...

I guess the evil Quinn isn't so far fetched seeing how he seems 'too sweet' so maybe...what's that old saying...' me thinks he doth try too hard'? but no, I still hope he's our good little Jonas & have our little 5 man team...or I'll settle for him looking after the artifacts that come back to base...

Heyyyy!!! That's Nyan's job! :(

I don't know, first he nicks the naquadria, then Daniel's office and his coffe mug, then his persona, and now you want him to nick Nyan's job too! Tsk, tsk!

So running true to type then... :D

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut - in skittish mood

Well, if we're going to go quoting Shakespeare, then "the quality of mercy is not strained; it droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven to the place beneath. It is twice blest! It blesses him that gives, and him that takes."

Maybe Jonas should go from smiling sweetly to outright grovelling. How could anyone be so hard-hearted as to be cruel to one lying helpless at her feet?! Wouldn't a good grovel redeem him?

And Sam slapped him really hard in "Nightwalkers." Best part of the ep and did a lot to win my grudging (at that time) sympathy for him.

Perhaps, indeed, Jonas' heart will weigh equally with the feather of Maat, assuring him a place amongst the righteous in the hereafter.

Or then again he just might get fed to the crocodiles . . .

:rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2:

unfortunatley Nightwalker is the only ep I didn't see & can't find it now to download:(

Ah well, if we're taking a turn into Shakespeare...

"Men should be what they seem."

"Or have we eaten of the insane root that takes the reason prisoner?"

"And thus I clothe my naked villainy with odd old ends stolen forth of holy writ, and seem a saint when most I play the devil."

"Something rotten in the state of Colorado..."

Do I detect a visit to Dickens next? Uriah Heep was awfully good at grovelling... :D

Well that would have redeemed Sam a little in my eyes...

Aww, b-b-but Nyan's so cute!!!

And he's an open-minded scientist...

And he can think on his feet...

And he's courageous and doesn't fall apart in a crisis...

So I can see your point then - he's nothing like Quinn, is he? :D

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

Of course, we haven't seen Nyan since "New Ground." A loose end that the writers have left dangling. Prehaps after Daniel's departure, Nyan got himself a research assistant job at a major university.

Hey, he probably shaved those off the following day. :D

At least he has good moral fibre which is a lot more than can be said for Quinn...
"Ethicist"? Pah! Wouldn't know an ethic if it jumped up and bit him on the nose! ;)

Best wishes,
Hatshepsut

I say bring Daniel back naked and everything else is optional...:D :D

Uhhh...that already happened? Then I don't care what else they do...;)

Just kidding. I was tending towards the 'four-men-and-a-woman option', just to see some sparks between Daniel and Jonas. No, take your minds out of the gutter, I didn't mean *that*!!! :D :D LOL

But I think it could make for some good and intense scenes between the two. Jonas took Daniel's place on the team, his office, probably his fish and definately his beloved journals, etc.
Daniel knows that someone *had* to replace him and take over his job, but does it have any impact on him that the one who tried to blame him for sabotaging the Kelownian's experiment and research and was part of the conspiracy against him took over?

There was this little sweet exchange in Full Circle about his stuff. Can't give too much away without spoilers.

I'd like to see some kind of resolution to this. Daniel can hold grunges for quite some time. How will he react if he is faced with the whole issue when he *isn't* in a position where he has to save his friend (Abyss), help another friend (Changeling) or has to save a whole planet (Full Circle). He didn't have much time to go into this in these situations and I'm sure there were a whole lot of other thoughts in his head at these times.

So after reading the spoilers for Fallen and Homecoming I'm sure this will be addressed in the seventh season and this makes me a very happer camper. That's what I wanted to see.

After that I don't care what happens to Jonas. Put him back to Kelowna to install force fields for all I care....:D :D

Remember in Fire & Water how Daniel reacted when he realized that while he was "dead" his friends had gone through all his stuff, including those journals. Yes, I can see some really great dialog opportunities as Daniel has to deal with the fact that Jonas hasn't just read the journals, but memorized them.

Talk about getting under one's skin . . . :rolly2:

I bet Jonas went & made notes in them too...ooooh I hate it when other people write on my notes!!!

Yep, he's not gonna be a happy camper. :D

So I'm looking forward to seeing the Daniel and Jonas scenes in Fallen and HC. ;)

Maybe Jonas has even drawn some piccies in his journals. He seemed to be pretty bored in Redemption....;) :p

I voted to kill him off...

I have to say I am one hundred % in agreement with Hatshepsut on the whole Jonass situation.
Don't like him, never will. The writers wrote him in a way that made us hate him. There is no way to redeem him (except maybe have him die saving Daniel and OUR planet and even then I don't know).

And I saw the words "eye candy" in reference to Jonass...all I can say is "EWWWW".:disgust:

And I stand in agreement with summershake comment of "bring Daniel back naked". Yeah Baby!!!!! :rolly2: :naughty:

I wouldn't say Jonah is ewww! but I would say that I agree with most people here, he has not really fitted in but maybe I'm biased every time Daniel popped in I was thrilled.

There's just no room for the both of them....
And I just know who's gonna leave.:D

Daniel naked.................sigh!;) ;)

Still can't wait.
