Don't worry, Lo'Lara. Whatever one says, someone's likely to take offence. Different people like different things in appearances. It's just a question of taste. Life would be pretty boring if we all found the same things attractive - or not. And then again, any one actor may look gruesome playing one role, and totally toothsome playing another.

You want offensive, you should see some of the truly obnoxious, vindictive and vitriolic things that were - and probably still are - written about not only the character of Daniel Jackson, but also the actor who plays him, on some other sites. Not here, I hasten to add. And one doesn't get shot down in flames for the sin of liking Daniel here either. Thank heavens for moderators.

Quite a few people, I think! At least it's only the character they want to kill off, not the actor...

Personally, I strongly object to the way TPTB keep unnecessarily killing off characters, such as Martouf and Robert Rothman. I really, really liked them and had they been kept alive, maybe we'd have been spared the creation of an unworkable and divisive new character who made most of series 6 unwatchable for a lot of people including me. I resent that. Nothing against the actor, just the lying, thieving, treacherous character who should've been packed off back to Colona or to Area 51 by rights. :alienooh:

I'm rather mad at the writers at this point. Not only have they killed off Martouf, but the snake too (Lantash)! Then they killed off Sha're( And her snake!), and all sorts of other really good characters. Then they kill off Dan (but ok, he asked for it), and just when you think they're through killing off quality characters they do the unthinkable. They kill off Skaara (my eye candy). Dan( who i'm becoming rather annoyed by), gives Anubis the eye of Ra, who then kills all the system lords. I'm not sure I wanna see what happens in season 7. No wait, thats a lie.

it's truly amazing to me how people can decry daniel bashing and then turn around and bash jonas in practically the same breath.
while i'm pleased that the moderators do not allow anyone to suffer for "the sin of liking daniel" i wish jonas fans could be afforded the same protection. the amount of jonas bashing that is tolerated here is ridiculous. if, for example, the story in the fanfiction section "jonas of arc"

just ask yourself this question - if you take any of the innumerable jonas bashing posts on this forum and replace jonas' name with daniel's would you find that post offensive? if so, can you then understand why the posts are offensive to those who like jonas? or take any of these lovely cartoons and replace jonas with daniel in them-

Okay, I'll step in now since I'm moderating this Stargate Gen Disc.

As long as the comments made are not flaming towards other posters, are not directed at the actors but the characters and they are voiced as one's opinion rather then 'Everybody hates xxx (select character)' it's okay for me.

I deleted several posts that had nasty comments directed at the actor Michael Shanks. One even sounded like a threat. Funnily enough I never saw someone bashing Corin Nemec here. Other than 'his acting style is too stiff' or posts to that effect I have yet to see someone who can't distinguish between the character of Jonas Quinn and his actor.
Daniel Jackson and Michael Shanks on the other hand are a completely different issue. I'm not sure why, but *some* people who don't like Daniel seem not above bashing the actor.

I can't say anything about the fanfics you gave as a reference, I don't moderate over there.

You also posted links to some of Leah's artwork I see. I can comment on that because, personnally, I love her work. She cracks me up time and again because she manages to ridicule *all* Sg-1 members and picks on Jonas in a funny, clever and in my opinion not *offensive* way.

So if somebody wrote: 'I hate Daniel Jackson, he's a whiny civilian' I sure as he** would comment on that, as a poster on this board and not as a moderator. It's this person's opinion which I would want to discuss.
If somebody wrote: 'I hate Jonas and this Corin Nemec is ***** (insert something nasty)' I'd definately delete the post and warn the member by private messaging.

It's not in my power to decide what kind of members can post here, but there seem to be a whole lot more Daniel than Jonas fans. I agree. So of course this reflects in the posts around here.
This does *not* mean Jonas bashing is accepted whereas Daniel bashers will be banned immediately.

There are boards out there where you get harrassed if you even *mention* Daniel. And you should really consider stepping into an armour before you dare to whisper Michael Shanks. I think it's ridiculous how much actor-bashing is going on on some forums/boards/webpages/whatever out there.

I like to believe that people are relatively free to post their opinion here and as long as discussions are held flamefree and people don't get harrassed for their personal views then -I'd like to think- we all have a wonderful place to play.

Jack-fans, Daniel-droolers, Teal'c-fanatic, Jonas-lover, Shipper, Slasher, everyone.

The character's name is 'Jonas' - one 's' - don't add another one - it's equally as offensive to fans as the bashing of the character --

oh come on Highlander II, vote vote vote. Personally I haven't seen any realy Jonus bashing, just a few people who said they don't like him, & well, 27 people have voted to have him stay on SG-1 & one 4 to kill him off...

oh & I also love Leah's cartoons & I find Jonus to be eye candy, doesn't mean anyone has to agree with me...
