Moral Support Needed Here...

Weight drop...

Well, I went back to being a total carnavoire [first two weeks of Induction with 20 grams or less of carbs] and the weight drop started back up. I'm down 5 pounds in the last 10 days.

Now to just keep it up for awhile longer.

My knee is finially to the point where I can start walking and swimming. Also have friends looking for a bike and a stationary exercise bike for me.

Things are looking up.

Well, after weeks of a pound if I was lucky, I'm finally losing weight again! Two and Half down this week! If it keeps up I'll make my target!

Also had the experience of two people people commenting on how I'd lost weight within minutes. One of them later commented on how nice my hair looked, just after I'd been in the loo looking at it and thinking it looked totally out of control!

Congrats to everyone for keeping going!

PS: Also now in training for the charity hike (did I mention that?). Walking up and down the stairs! I actually did more last week than this, but I think last week I had water retention...

Just a tiny bit off over the last couple of weeks. Now down 18.5 lbs in total, now 161lbs. I've switched from WW to Atkins now and I find I am a lot better. My bloods are AOK and my blood glucose has settled down and I no longer get hypos. Of course everyone now thinks I'm going to drop dead from a heart attack any minute now. I'm losing some inches though, clothes fit better and I feel and look better. I drink about 5 litres of water a day and it shows in my hair and my skin. I'm definitely sticking with this WOE. Check out some of the message boards, they are really helpful. Best of luck all.

Weight...

I've still plateaued, but the inches are slowly coming off. I'm in pants that I've never worn before. I went to a con a weekend or so ago and blew my diet [Sorry, the chance to have Thai food was too great], but I didn't gain a pound and things still fit, so I'm happy.

Got a friend who is letting us have her exercize bike so I expect that will help things along.

I'm doing karate twice a wk, as well as yoga in the evenings. Unless my scale is lying to me (and it has before) I think I've lost 10 pounds...but slowly.

Nevertheless...congrats on the pants, Rowan! Good work to you too, Marianne!

:D

How many plateaus can you have? I seem to have one every other week!

I was getting hopeful again, as at the beginning of the week my stix was red/purple again (it's been pink for ages..), but then I was off to visit the familly for a couple of days... Keeping my fingers crossed, but there's actually a chance I'll have gone up this weighing day! At the moment it's slightly up... hoping it will be ok since my mum did pretty well....

I'm trying to convince myself that the exercise I'm doing is making me put on muscle, and eventually that will result in faster easier loss...

Anyone need more motivation? Coming to Gatecon? Well, I'm finding training for a charity hike is great motivation for exercising! Shameless advertising... but it's for a good cause! See the link in my signature.

Well my weight loss is still pretty erratic. I really do think that sometimes when you start exercising it doesn't get weight off because you are putting on muscle. But fingers crossed, I think I've got to the point where the balance is tipped and that extra muscle is now burning the fat! And it is definately slimming down my thunder thighs!

And I have less than a stone to go to target!

Very little loss, but ...

Well, there's been very little loss over the last couple of weeks, but things are fitting better, so I'm happy. I've been adding carbs receantly [not keeping the greatest check, but being careful about it] and it's been nice to have the variety - occ. fruits, a bit of rice [SUSHI!!! I splurged], a bit of Thai take-out. And things still seem to stay off.

My knee is getting better also and there's not an exercise bike on the patio so that'll help too.

Things are just slowly getting along, but slow is okay.

I've had a really great week. Lots of jiggly puff followed by a whoosh of 4lbs practically overnight. 22.5lbs in total now. Yipee, highly delighted here. Inch loss is showing too, my clothes fit better and I've gone down a dress size. Now all I need is a tummy tuck to get rid of all this empty floppy skin. Yeuch!! I think I'll make my target before SG6 at this rate.

Ok, how the heck is it possible to put on 4 pounds over night?!?

Not kidding. Yesterday I was one pound down for the week. Today's official weighing day and I'm 3 pounds UP over the week!

I did have a few extra carbs last night, but it's not like I've been stuffing myself on pizza and chocolate cake! Just nuts and higher amounts than usual of some allowed foods! And it's the wrong time to be hormonal.

I am feeling a bit ill, so maybe that's it. Either that or my scales have broken.

Not measured yet, I'm dreading it.

Weight...

Impending 'That Time of the Month'?

Rowan

Nope, as I said, wrong time of the month to be hormonal.

Good news is it's now come off again. I'm pretty sure now it was a combination of eating something I'm intolerant to causing bloating and eating something salty causing me to drink a lot. Pretty amazing really!

My measurements did go up and have now gone down again too.

Ah ...

The human body is a remarkable thing... ;)

Rowan

Not a lot of progress since I last posted. Even had a couple of weeks where I gained a bit. I think I only lost 1 or 2 pounds over the last month. Think I might have to go cheese free for a while... think it might be candida or a food intolerance is holding me back.

Anyway, yesterday I had a total blowout for my birthday! Chocolate cheesecake, an indian (sag paneer and a pilau rice with cashews, very yummy), lemon yoghurt and a couple of minis of baileys.

Back to being good now. :D

The best thing that I can say is that a co-worker who has been out for a while noticed in the middle of a conversation that I have lost weight. That felt pretty good. I've been movin' and groovin away with the exercise and I'm learning the art of will power (yes...it is an art.) I pick away at the ice cream in the freezer. In my college days I could go through a pint without a care. I miss that.

I have ten more pounds to lose in my next stage. The next 10 after that should (hopefully) melt away.

hi guys just stumbled over this thread.... i think its great to have a diet support group among stargate affectionados...
:rolly2: :rolly2:

been doing the curves diet for the last couple of months...exercise and locarb diet like atkins...seems to be working...down 16 pounds with only...don't want to think about how much to go. trying to take it in small increments.

i think the hike idea and incentive is a great idea rowan green:D
would love to do it with you if i can ever actually get to a gatecon.
been dying to go for years just never have been able to manage it. well keep up the good work and grrrr to carbs.

I can't believe I haven't been on this board since June 27. Weight loss is 26.5lbs now and several inches all over. This low carbing is great, it's so easy. I'm hoping to reach -30lbs by my birthday week after next so I'm being extra strict with myself. I can't believe I spent all those years yo yoing and using WW and being hungry, I feel great now and have so much energy. I have had a lot of negative comments from folks I work with (I work in a hospital so I am surrounded with doctors, nurses et al), they all seem to think I'm going to drop dead on the spot. I've had a blood test and my cholesterol is normal and my triglycerides are well low so I have my proof that I'm absolutely fine. The press have been having a real downer on low carb diets (Atkins in particular because they don't know about any others) and it is really annoying. I have researched low carb really well and am satisfied that it's the best and healthiest WOE for me but press only look for the bad things, none of which I have encountered.
Good luck everyone and I'll check in again soon.

My loss has still been pretty low on the whole. Managed to lose 2 pounds last week (first time in ages!) but I don't think I've lost more than a few grams this week.

Part of the problem is it's so unbelievably hot in London at the moment. I've not been doing as much exercise as I'd like.

It's nearly impossible for me to reach target for Gatecon now. Ah well, I've lost quite a bit anyway.
