Favourite characters?

My favorites are Arya John Tyrion Sandor and Jonh's friend I think his name is Pip or something like that. My favorit wolfe is goste. I'm not a Dany fan, but I think that's some underlying cattyness in me, not really a falt of hers.

Zjr, you are an even worse speller than kiwi :p. At least you spelled Dany right, unlike some people...
Arya, John, Arya, Ghost, Arya, Brienne, Jaime, Arya, Dany, Strong Belwas and Arya are my favourites. Oh, and Arya.;)

Well, I don't necessarily judge a character by 'identifying' with them or thinking they're someone I would like to be around, was I a character in the series. So, that said, here goes my list.

Gregor Clegane-There, I said it. The Mountain that Rides. Enough said.

Roose Bolton-As creepy as Vargo Hoat, but with a lordship and without the lisp. And a hell of a lot smarter.

Tywin Lannister-The ultimate player in the Game of Thrones. Devious, brilliant,
charismatic and ruthless.

Blackfish Tully- I love his exchange with Jaime in AFFC. Fearless and cunning to boot.

Jaime Lannister-He's getting less interesting as he gains a conscience, but I'm still dying to see what he's going to do next.

Cersei Lannister-What can I say, I've got a thing for crazy selfish women. I loved her PoV's in AFFC. Kept me thinking "Wow, is THAT what's really happening or is she just seeing it that way?"

Eddard Stark-Nothing like honor and justice tempered with compassion. Are you listening, Stannis? The guy I would've followed, were I a Westerosi. Yeah, I'd have probably gone to Ser Ilyn too.

Anyway, not in order, and just rambling as usual.

i have not finished read the book yet, but really like Arya, Jon and Tyrion

I'm gonna say Tyrion Lannister, Sandor Clegane, Jon Snow, and Dolorous Edd are my favourites. I'm starting to take quite a liking to Daenarys as well, now that's she settling into the "ruler" role.

I'm reading 'A Storm of Swords', Part I, now, so my opinion is subject to change. Especially because my view on certain characters has changed a lot since I read the first book and I think it will change even more when I'll have read the other books.

I've always had a liking for 'gray' characters and for underdogs who turn out to be smarter than others, which is why I like Tyrion.

I'd never expected to find Jaime interesting, but since the chapters where we got to read his point of view, I'm starting to like him, but that's one of the merits of Martin's writing - he shows the human aspect of characters who are unsympathetic at first sight. That's what I also like about Sandor Clegane.

Other characters I like are Jon Snow, Daenerys and Sansa.

That's a tough one, since my favorite characters KEEP GETTING BUMPED OFF!!! Although I really liked Ned, Jon is definitely in my top ten. Tyrion is a riot, and Arya is a scrappy little thing. And, of course, I love the wolves!

The Hound is easily my favorite character in the story and I think the feud with his brother has been on the "boiler" too much for it to not erupt. I don't think either of them are dead or finished yet. Although I'm used to dissapointment over characters in Martin's writing(in a good way if that makes sense). I like Jon a lot as well, as I can relate to him probably the most out of any character, being a ******* myself. Although its not as significant in this world as it is in Martin's. I think I'm one of the only ones, if not the only one who actually enjoy's Brienne's part in the story. The chemistry/interaction with Jaime was entertaining to me. Although she did get somewhat annoying in AFFC(maybe the interesting part was due to Jaime). I also like Bran's pov and I think he will make a siginificant impact on the story. I'll also add Strong Belwas, simply for the fact that he defeated a champion, then defecated and whiped himself with the fallen champion's cloak, I don't know why I cracked up so much while reading that scene.

Honestly, in spite of the fact that this series is my absolute favourite atm... I truly cannot name any characters that stand out as my favourite... perhaps the death of Ned, Renly and Robb taught me a lesson. I liked all three...they were my favourite POV and pov-shown characters. Yet George has taught me to like whomever i choose to... but not to get too attached.
I do like Arya alot...she's probably my only 'favourite' atm. I do also see Sansa as rising in the list of characters i like. Princess Arianne was also alot of fiery fun, and the Sand Snakes are all very cool - i love the petite one that plays with poison. its very nice to finally see the Martell perspective, though an actual Tyrell would be nice now. Just out of fairness - all the other major houses have had a POV or a very close observational pov

That said there are characters that i LOATHE... Tyrion and Dany being right at the top of the list. Along with Stannis and OMG i can't believe his name escapes me... but the Onion Knight...he annoys me too.

OMG is right. Is there any particular reason why you would loathe one of the most beloved noseless dwarves in all fantasy?

Rhaegar.

I know he's dead, but his character fascinates me and I love the moments when we learn just a little bit more about him.

Well apart from the fact that he irritates the hell out of me with his 'i'm so hard done by' attitude, he is a noseless, hideous dwarf, with miss-matched eyes and no redeeming qualities.
He tried playing tywin's game and lost... so we know he's not that clever or cunning... yes he killed him, but murder is easy... truly defeating your opponent shows skill... Tywin had that - i mean even Cercei out-manouvred Tyrion. Showing that using what nature gave you works... except when nature gives others more. looks - he got none, smarts he got some... just not enough.
Allowing himself to think, even for a second that beautiful Sansa would ever grow to accept him, or that he could one day be lord of winterfell in her name, was a pure fantasy, and an entirely ridiculous one.
Fooling himself into thinking Shae and Bronn liked him for anything more than his money. THAT was funny.
Oh and thinking that he would ever be Lord of Casterly Rock, that was funny too. No-one would have ever bowed to Tyrion - especially not another Lannister.

Tyrion is just plain dumb. He's one of those stupid smart people. There is no doubting their intelligence, but their common-sense leaves a lot to be desired. His chapters, when i re-read the books, are the ones i skim through. he bores me.

I agree with the fact that he whines too hard about being harddone, so yes tywin was hard, and cersei was devious, but he was still a noble, now if he where a commoner life would've been truly hard

Well, I get bored with alot as well, especially with whining about Tyrion's POV's. I wonder how others would all have ended up with Tyrion's circumstances (being desenherited, losing the only woman he loved at the hands of his dear family, dealing with Cersei, etc.). Out of all the characters, he has the best head on his shoulders and his feet most firmly grounded. Does he whine? Not in the least, but merely expresses his loathe for his family and the court.

I cannot wait until he finally has his revenge...and his due (i.e. Casterly Rock)

personally, i have to agree with most here, and say i love tyrion and jon the most. in my mind i've always felt that jon was kind of secretly the "main" character, even though he's only one of the many. i also like arya and jaime quite a bit.......davos too. cersei and catelyn are the least likeable for me, i can't help it, they just get on my nerves. i'd kick cersei in the baby-maker if i ever saw her.
