Aoi Midori

Also known as Mido, Aoi Midori was the familiar of the warlock Claviqué Anilar. Anilar was widely mocked for eschewing the usual cats, badgers and owls and opting instead for a familiar of the sciurus family. His choice was, of course, justified during his titanic duel with Archmage Landim Acittus. The dire squirrel Aoi Midori slayed Acittus' feline familar Gryyl by choking the lynx with his tail.

Unfortunately, the rest of Mido's body was already starting to digest in the larger beast's stomach. But Gryyl's dry retching was enough to put Acittus off his incantation and allowed Anilar to plunge a spear of ice through his former master's heart.

His Galactic Holiness Collemn Deuff

**Unwilling to take the rap for killing this thread, JDP puts on a fake moustache and a funny voice and pretends he's someone else**

His Galactic Holiness Collemn Deuff

Known for his beatific smile and benevolent demeanour, Collemn Deuff was raised to the position of High Thinker by an unprecedented unanimous vote of the Zenith Council. He promoted peace and tolerance throughout the Confluence of Man for almost eight decades before passing peacefully in the night. To honour his passing, his last whispered prayers were added to the Book of Words and remain a footnote of the Text to this day. They are widely believed to be words of thanks from Deuff's spirit to his body as they parted, but are also taken as an analogy to his good works:

"Give often, give willing
For those who beg succour
Lack friendship, seek counsel, need hope.

Work tireless, with vigour
Though no greater burden
Will tire you, or weigh on your soul.

Now the dark lies before you
And all strength has left you
Sleep long and sleep deep and rest well.

Seek peace, my friend, and you shall find it."

Book of Words, Collemn's Prayer.

In accordance with Deuff's wishes, his ashes were scattered over pastures on his home world of Altis IV. Neither plaque nor statue nor headstone mark the spot and, in truth, none are needed.

Lemnin Waterpouch

Lemnin Waterpouch had not been born Lemnin Waterpouch- no-one knew what she had been born, she simply was. From the moment the landlord of the Book and Gown had taken her in, she had been the tavern's least elegant waitress and everyone's best friend. She had devoted her enviable brain power to the avoiding of school and no-one could make her wear shoes.

Kiala Utarumlan is a beautiful young woman, and an orphan. She was raised in a Japanese monastery, and released upon an unsuspecting world at the tender age of 15.She is finding it very hard to study in the US,as the concepts of the people around her are alien to her.Her thesis is going to be on the applications of nanotechnology in the medical sciences.

Giyytrq

Giyytrq is a particularly scrofulous forest-goblin, who even by forest-goblin standards is considered somewhat odious.

He begs on the streets of the nearby coastal trading towns, walking with an affected limp and deliberately not washing so as to encourage sprouts of brightly-coloured fungus to develop over his face. He keeps up an almost incessant patter of portentous doom and gloom and pretends to be a shaman, expelled by his tribe for bringing down a plague of frogs on the chieftain's favourite wife.

For a few coppers, he will tell gullible sailors thier fortunes.

What he will do for sailors for a few more coppers is not capable of being repeated in polite company or on a respectable site such as Chronicles Network.

Long Poll

Long Poll

Known as Death's Financier, Long Poll Reilly and her crew ruled the ports of McHenry, D'Asboe and Rellenhide for over a decade. Reputedly, the only thing faster than Poll's business mind was her temper and it was a desperate man who begged a loan at her door. Her favourite ploy was to lend an unsuspecting merchant coin enough to fill his hold, only to waylay him upon the high seas and rob him blind. Even if he saw through her (usually pitiful) disguise, Poll would still demand payment on the debt. Welchers would find themselves stretched by the weight of a ship's anchor until they matched her own seven-foot frame.

Poll was finally caught and killed by a young unknown named...

Iago D'Errinitz

Iago D'Errinitz

Iago never fought in a war or killed a man. Yet he is beyond doubt, a great swordsman. From the age of 15 he learnt the art of swordplay. He dualled other nobles and proficient swordsmen in order to raise his own prestige. At thirty he rented himself out as second (for an exorborent price). Soon no-one would fight against someone with Iago as second. Yet Iago did accumilate many, many enemies.

At 35 he agreed to take on 3 apprentices, provided he tested them with the sword first. The most promising of these was the now infamous

Talen Krelin

Talen Krelin

A young man who took up the sword when he was just a child after the death of his parents by the hands of bandits. He came to the attention of Iago when the two met by chance on the road, but his beligerent tendencies often get in the way of his learning.

Violaris Shedrin

Violaris Shedrin

The second of Iago's pupils, Violaris perfected a method of two-sword fighting using extremely long, slender swords, and using the point as opposed to the edge. Her habit of fighting wearing amazingly exiguous costumes, added to a somewhat top-heavy figure, won her many fights againt men unable to concentrate on their own defence. She gave up the sword and took the veil after accidently killing her cousin fighting under an assumed name.

Billy Shakestaff

Billy Shakestaff
Personification of one of the most virulent diseases of the swamp-planet of Az'ol. Appears in the victim's mind as a filthy old man in skull-mask and leather loincloth brandishing a seven-foot staff with a veluch skull at one end and the twin stings of the predator at the other.
Although often dismissed as a simple nightmare, sickroom windows have been forced and veluch venom have been found often enough to cast doubt on the conventional view.

The Shadowy One.

Different people always described The Shadowy One in different ways.

Tom Phillipson swore that he looked like Nic O'Teen from the old anti-smoking adverts, but wearing a battered old stovepipe topper, whereas Ali was in no doubt that the figure he had glimpsed down that dark alley in Manchester looked like a bipedal frog wearing formal "black tie". Tom said he was just being stupid, because even in Manchester someone would probably notice if people looking like frogs were walking around the place.

But Little Kate knew they were both wrong. She could never forget her meeting with The Shadowy One on that cold, stormy night when her dad had twisted his ankle and they were huddled together on Bow Fell, hoping and praying that Ed had noticed they weren't back and had called out the Langdale Mountain Rescue.

Little Kate would never forget that cold, wheezing rasp, half way between a cackle and a cough and the sight of that cold, spindly hand with the cracked nails and tattoed blue dots, beckoning her away down the slope.

The Bearded Anchorite of Tanlaggan

The Bearded Anchorite of Tanlaggan,

She left home at an early age to avoid people's reactions and is now the only inhabitant on the bleak plain of Tanlaggan. She comes into many stories but little of the truth is known.

Jazima the Wretched.

Jazima the Wretched

Jazima was a noblewoman until the city was overthrown, but in her failed attempts to retake the city she was branded a traitor and exiled. She now roams the lands as a vagabond, unable to settle or be accepted anywhere. She lives off what she can hunt or steal, and she longs to return to her home and regain her lands, but without help it will be very difficult for her.

Eldrienne Eldritch

Eldrienne Eldritch

Brought up the youngest of ten children in a family of entertainers who would make the courts of numerous towns of the county laugh, cry and baffled with wonderment. The family would be welcomed in the govenor's home for the period of the stay - they were popluar and in demand but poorly paid. Eldrinenne was a very inquisitive and nosey child in the courts that where her playgrounds. Watching the maids of honour, immitating them, overhearing the secrets and schemes of the other members of the courts, discovering the twisted or plotting minds of the power hungry.

Governers homes were but a brief luxuary at times. Usually the family were on the breadline. They were actors, they could pretend they were not as poor as they really were. She soon discovered from an early age her skills could get her places and sometimes worked as a team, used as a pickpocket while her older siblings played to crowds of distracted audiences. She had questioned her actions when shown kindness, but not for long in her mind, it was survival.

She was always fighting for the scraps, always the last on the list. something that made her more independant. As she grew, her acting come deception skills would help her out of countless tight spots and was very entertained herself when hustling in gambling games or hosting betting tricks in the local tavens. Because she never met her match. They were all drunk opponents who couldn't keep their balance when trying to throw her a punch let alone work out her scams when they lost. Again. Easy money, low risk. Not like her bother who had his hands chopped off when he was caught stealling the mayor's money pouch. Her way was better. more cunning, but it was getting boring.

By the time she was 25 she lost interest in her family's occupation . It had had it's day and most of her brothers and sisters had got families or off onto other things (or been killed over theft), her parents still trying to do the same routine after all these years with 2 of her most narrowed minded and unambitious sisters touring the same counties. The old governers sacked or moved onto other things. The courts had changed hands, the family where lucky if they could find a street corner to stage their entertainment without being moved along by guards.

So she ventured to the capital where the pickings were richer to make her name and wealth the only way she knows how...and maybe she'll see find that guy again who caught her eye last spring she overheard talking of adventure?

Hogarth Quesellthwaite

A gamekeeper come odd job man, Hogarth Queselthwaite enjoyed his place in life. He was respected by the other servants and trusted by his master, and had learned to put up with his master's odd ways. His master respected his knowledge as much as he respected his master's authority. After all, this was his second career. He had spent is youth hunting dragons and wild cats in the mountains of Khutashan- he had already had his share of adventure.

Luisa Nightspell

Luisa Nightspell
A classic librarian, although younger than most, her only outlet is the daily story-time for the younger children, where she often reads her own stories. That is, until now...

Atanon Rainbowbeard

Atanon Rainbowbeard

A large, rotund and loud tavern frequenter, with white hair and beard and talking to himself, he'll be easy to spot around town. Atanon loves his ales and is usually staggering about or in his favourite seats in dimly lit, noisey taverns. He has had a lot of occupations in his time, and so is known to most people - they laugh at him but think of him fondly. He adds flavour to the town and the place wouldn't be the same without him.

His last name is really his nickname given to him by other regulars at the Dragon's Belly Inn and similar establishments in town. After drinking as much as his finances would allow, he would have no hesitation to down any alcohol that has been left on other tables - when Atanon is in this state, you better not leave your ale unattended!

At the end of every drinking session his nickname becomes quite literal from all the various berry based colour ales staining his white beard.

Then after a series of long belches, he'll be happy to continue telling you his stories when he was a lad. (While his attention is given to looking out for more ale freebies) You wouldn't have to sit for long though. You would probably have heard the story a hundred times before - but never the end. He'll start falling asleep half way through.

He particularly makes himself known to new people in town, looking for a free drink for a chance to tell them anything they wanted to hear. Because he so often talks to a lot of people in his quest for ale, he is in some ways, the best source of information about town. Though you are advised to take a lot of his info with a handful of salt, if you knew him you would be able to work out the vital stuff from the elaborated ones.

The truth is he's never been on an adventure in his life. These are his imaged life stories he tells (which explains why the details always change from telling to telling) and his drinking is sometimes to try and forget his regrets of never having done anything exciting - or his nagging wife. It started in his 40's when he was tired of being a cook, town crier, bailiff, Cottar, Scullion - or any other job he bounced to generally from being sacked from the last one due to his hangovers and never turning up.

He's happy though, never really had much drive to achieve, ambition or make his name. He wouldn't want you to feel sorry for him - just buy him another ale!

Is a man unlike any other man. With a large muscular build and a nose turned up in a disfavoring fashion. Long wavy golden locks fall around his face in a distinguished manner. He thinks himself a very good catch and has all the ladies swooning. Never has a women refused his bed. None except that women from town. He knew he would win her though. With his charm and power and if nothing else with his money. He was after all the richest man in all the land. Coming from a very prestigous lineage. HIS family was respected unlike the commonfolk not fit to clean his shoes. One day he would be the most powerfull man in the land as well. Let those foolish townsfolk believe the Elder. He would lead them into flames. Meaning to do anything to get meet his ends he often associated with unsavory types. Keeping it secret with his money.

Hantan Pouroules

Hantan Pouroules

A beast of a man, taller than anyone in the district and nearly as wide. He chose to remove himself from society when he was younger, as his temper got him into many a fight, but his strength meant that he unwittingly seriously hurt more people than he intended. He retired to the mountains to live a life of solitude and meditation, aiming to become a holy man, but his past would not leave him alone. War had apparently broken out between the tribes, and the Chieftains wanted him to fight for them.
