All that is known is that he lives in a hotel room towards the outskirts of the city, that he carries an extremely archaic type of gun, and that his footsteps make no sound. No-one knows why he is in the city, nor what his objective is, and this makes the authorities very nervous indeed.

He won the 'Alphonse' off of a small, undistinguished man, playing Cheat-or-Steal at the Upside-Down Tortoise, a gin bar in Fortunate Sands, and it serves for the time being, but he won't be happy till he finds Caribee Unalark, beats him, and wins his name back. And he has just happened to learn there's a big game of Spin-The-Deck going down over in Phelas, and who should be playing in it?

Guy McNamara is a sixth generation Japanese man currently living in Los Angeles; the 'Mc' prefix was adopted by his great-great-great-grandfather to try and fit in better. He works as an orbital transport driver (his girlfriend calls him a 'delivery boy' to tease him) but longs to be on the galactic frontier instead of stuck in a dead-end job on Earth.

Another nude news presenter who is hyper sensitive to the slightest chill in the air, giving him a somewhat azure hue around the cheeks and nose. The nickname, Big, is a hilarious misnomer that makes Jim want to kill things.

Big Jim, aka What's The Name Of That Fella Off The News With The Little Acoutraments, is also a background actor in many blockbuster movies. He plays the bluescreen.

Not kind, nor beautiful, she knows her "place" in the world is with the powerful and the rich, and she's very content with that.
