Just thought I would start a thread to discuss the peoples and events of Midkemia.

Do we ever find out anything about Pug's origins, his parents etc etc?

pugs family are a complete mystery... nothing (so far) has been said about them... other than him being left orphaned - no details of reason or circumtance... no details of siblings either...

Are Thomas' parents his real parents? Just that Thomas pretty much buggers off and never mentions them again.

****Spoilers*****

Thomas' parents are real, and true... they are the cooks in castle crydee... i think they are mentioned a lot in the first book, but after that they are kind of forgotten (once he becomes a man and he finds ashen-shugars armour and his sudden obsession with the elves)... though i remember they are mentioned when he marries the elf queen... but can't remember if there is any mention about their son... but there is something nagging in the back of my head about him visiting his grandparents...

Just edited a spoiler warning on your last post mate - my first moderator action!!

I am now reading A Darkness of Sethanon mate. Do we ever find out the identity of the Uprightman? He is such a cool character. I imagine him to perhaps be a known person - not necessarily known to the reader but at least somebody of note. Please do not tell me his name if this is true. I am glad to see Thomas and Pug finally meeting up in this book, since they left Crydee there has a been little to no interaction between the two.

There are several leaders of the Mockers... But The Upright Man identity is never revealed... But one of the others is, when one of the wars ends - can't remember which... I think when Krondor is under seige...

i have re-read Magician several times, and because i was really into it i retain the information...

though i can't for the life of me remember a lot about Fairy Tale...

***Spoilers****
The death of Arutha really shook me up. Raymond is a tricksy little hobbit. Not sure where the books will go after A Darkness at Sethanon but time will tell.

I like the way that Feist revolves around some central characters or families within all the books, then introduces others characters, then the stories start to revolve around them and their acquintences... It is very well done - in my NOT SO HUMBLE opinion... :D

correction Faery Tale... and I can sympathize with this. Mainly because I read Faery Tale once and actually thought it was good. I re-read it not to long ago and passed it off for a 12-16yr old's book. I might save it for my unborn baby.

i have this nagging thing in my head that keeps telling me the uprightmans name is donald and he worked as a bussiness man he made candles...*laughs*...there was referance to jimmy going to see him once......its been so long since ive read them

Which Fairy tale? Snow White?

:D
Faery Tale was a one-off book Fiest wrote - completely different to anything else he's written. More like Stephen King type horror with fantastical elements really.

Did anyone ever get the feeling that Pug is Macros' son? I certainly get that feeling although it's never confirmed. It would kind of sit with the idea that Macros knows what's coming and what is needed to fight it and so fathers a child of his own to fulfill the role needed. Just a thought.

Oh TM, the Mocker leader who is actually revealed is in Shadow of the Dark Queen I think - when Midkemia gets invaded. I think he's called the "Sagacious Man" or something.

I do believe he is revieled in Either the end of Assassins or the beginning of Tear of the Gods.

I think it was the end of Assassins,Jimmy had his eye on a shop were the owner was presumed missing or dead he reappears at the end of the book and Jimmy pays him a visit it is never said right out he's the upright man but it's implied.
Also if my memory serves me correctly,Marcos was the one who left Pug at Crydee.Pug thought he may have been related to Marcos and was worried about his relationship with Miranda. It seems his parentage was normal but Marcos sensed greatness in him

Come on Macros tells Pug, his father was a soldier, and his mother was a maid. He told Pug in the Serpent War Saga.

I rememebr that, its when Duke James (Jimmy the Hand), is with his wife Gamina, and with his brother Lysle (the second upright man). James tells Lysle their brothers in "Rage of a Demon King"

It was the end of Assassins where he went to check him out on the pretence that that his name had turned up on a list of persons murdered but it was more to inform him things were back to normal but even at the end of the conversation he's only almost certain it was the upright man.;)

Your right, it was the Sagacious man whos identity became known, i think it was in rise of a merchant prince. However you need to remember back to um... i THINK it was Krondor: the betrayal (the one with owen and goreth), where we meet that character for the first time (but i dont think he is the mockers leader at that point). He has gone by several different names, but i wont reveal any in case it ruins anything for somebody reading the books involved.
