The Revived Tolkien Trivia

*giggle* there might be more in the cellar. Or I just made some coffee, if you'd like a different legal stimulant.

Ahem...

Tears and laughter. It's Sam wakening up on the Field of Cormallen, in Ithilien, after the Fall of Sauron and his rescue with Frodo by the Eagles.

Then, as a sweet rain will pass down a wind of spring and the sun will shine out the clearer, his tears ceased, and his laughter welled up, and laughing he sprang from his bed.

RotK, Book VI, Ch. 4, The Field of Cormallen

Congratulations!!
*laughing sliver bell set with tear drop sapphires is presented on a green velvet pillow*

my favorite part of any harrowing tale is when life 'shines out the clearer' afterward. that the mundanety of life is welcome after foot sore travels.

May this bell always bring you the brightest of songs, and life the kindest of reposes.

Why, thank you, fair maid!

Now, what has brown skin, short thick legs and large, splay-fingered hands, and why would you think of kids from one to ninety-two?...

Is it Mel Torme singing The Christmas Song?

Chestnut Ents. But I don't know why I'd have to think of kids from one to ninety-two.

Some recalled the chestnut: brown-skinned Ents with large splayfingered hands, and short thick legs.
The Lord of the Ring, The Two Towers, Treebeard.

I think (resisting urge to Google) it's part of a line from the Christmas song "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire"?

I thought it was and have been looking for a Santa like figure. *giggles* no wonder I couldn't find it.

Grr. I thought I remembered a reference to the Entwives. Synaptical disconnect!

Good job, Marky. Am guessing the Green One will eventually agree? :D

Thinking of kids from one to ninety two is a line from The Christmas Song:

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you

Imagine it being sung by the velvety voice of Nat King Cole, and you'll understand. Most performed Christmas Song of all time.

And Marky, WELCOME BACK! It's been a while!

I find that in appropriate to add as it's got nothing to do with Tolkien. Fie, Green One!

And thanks, Clansman.

You mean he never went caroling? My fantasy of roaming the streets singing with him is just that much more impossible now. *defeated sigh*

Well, the Green fellow is taking to long and I'm going to assume I was correct and ask a new question to prevent from stalling :)

Who or what chased the stars out of the night sky?

TKA needs to look at this thread. Sheesh, it's about dead!

I believe that Marky is referring to Anar, a.k.a. Anor (Sindarin), a.k.a. Vasa (Noldor, without accent grave on the first "a").

I'd almost forgotten about this thread...

Sheesh - of which the first line is "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..."

And you're correct, Clanny - your turn...

It's revived....kind of?

*Sits on bench next to his greenness and waits for Clanny's challenge....*

Right. Back from a lengthy absence....

A hobbit would call this "The Wain". What would Elrond call it?

Okay, I posted this over four months ago. Do you guys need a hint, or what? (never mind that it is exceptionally easy).
