The chronicles word counter!

Provisional title: Black as Night
Genre: Fantasy (though not many fantastical things happening just now)
Word count: 120,082
Status: for the characters -- fighting monsters, having panic-attacks,
.......... for me -- screaming silently -- 120k was my projected limit and I'm nowhere near finished

let it roll, TJ. it'll tell you when you're done :D

meanwhile, back at the ranch...

MC2: HKV
epic sequel. very epic. so epic that i can't even begin to tell you how epic it is.
63000 words
still rising. but very, very slowly.

Mind you, it does help a teensy bit that I'm not watching Ben Barnes vids all day... :p

Does it make it better if I say it's research? My WiP is called The Beautiful Man after all. ;)

I managed 442 words in the end today. Yay!

The Many - Start date January 2012
This is now 26/05/2012 - 28,800 stalled for now, considering reader comments. This is the foundations for what is to come, so lots of editing and restructuring ahead.

Culture Shock - Start date May 2012
26/05/2012 – 4,500

Still in some awe of the damsels, who are a good inspiration to do better.

I'm only going to mention the ones I'm actively working on. There's just far too many at the moment otherwise. :D

I'm not going to work on all of them at the same time, obviously - that would just confuse the heck out of me. But these are the ones that have my immediate attention.

Since I'm out of practice - I haven't done much fiction writing in a long time - I would like a steady diet of pages, even if it's a small number, every day or at least most days of the week. Happily, hubby also notices when I write/don't write, so he also *cough* nags me.

Unfinished:

Novel: Basement of the Universe
Genre: Science fiction
Word count: As of today, 48578
Status: Total rewrite of the beginning (scrapped a whole lot to rework it), plus filling in the middle bits that I neglected earlier *cough* so I can then pass it on for editing to the hubby.

Novel: Shards
Genre: fantasy (my first)
Word count: zippo
Status: It's in plotting stage. I need to plot & plan the heck out of it so it'll be ready for me to write like a storm come NaNoWriMo.

Novel: Stranded
Genre: science fiction
Word count: zippo
Status: Need to finish plotting the heck out of it so it's ready to write, but since I won't be writing this until after NaNoWriMo, it's not as important.

Novel: Children of the Dome
Genre: science fiction
Word count: 22,260
Status: Need to work out the logistics of travel distances (OCD of mine, ya know) so I can finish writing the dang thing. Got stalled when I realized that I didn't know if group B would catch up to group A at the right time... But this is taking second place to Basement.

Wow, ambitious. I used to have several novels started, but I decided to just focus on one and try and get it done. My other serious one was a horror novel based in Florida with a lot of historical aspects.

Basically, there are lots of things that most people don't know about Florida, destroyed tribes and cultures that were wrecked before it became known as Florida, and I used them as the basis of a horror story. Maybe I'll get back to it someday.

I've been working away on Abendau's children, trying to make a few changes to set up some threads in the sequel - much plotting going on. New chapter added today, a bit of switching around of old ones, and the prologues gone, it just wasn't working, so I have a new snappier one (or rather one that's been out there as an alternative for a while and has been updated). As a result the word count has gone up by about 200....

Provisional title: Bloody Marsh
Genre: YA Steam Punk/Fantasy
Word count: 1200
Status: reviewing the first chapter. Not sure if I used enough world description, and if I introduce too many characters.

Can't wait til it's done! ^

Right, TBM now 33433 words. I've just written a fight scene. Yay! Didn't think I'd get any in this, and I love writing them, so I'm pleased I got the chance.

1. Novel: The Eternity Sphere

Genre: SF for YA

Status

Draft 3 completed; word count 104,725

Has had its first read: largely positive

2. Very short story: Still Motion

900 words of the supernatural. Seen and commented on by readers. Will now make changes and submit.

3. Interregnum

Fantasy short story for competition. Max word count 8,000. Submission deadline, end of June.

Status

Finished draft one: 7,986 words, and like Mouse a few weeks ago I wrote my first naughty scene. The fact that I've called it a naughty scene will tell you it's not very graphic.

Oh noooooo! You're entering the same comp as me. I don't want Chronites as competition! How can I win?

Naughty scenes are fun! More naughty scenes... (its when anyone reads them, I cringe)

Okay

Sunset over Abendau, first draft is getting alpha feedback

Abendau's Child - this is turning into an utterly gruelling edit - on page 87 or 350 and hoping the end will behave itself a little better....

Oh noooooo! You're entering the same comp as me. I don't want Chronites as competition! How can I win?

We can ... share?

Alternative view: fffffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhttttttt!!!!!!!!!!

I cringe reading my naughty scenes back  well, there's one so far. Implied naughtiness is abound though.

3,000 more words tonight, up to about 108,000. Unsaid declarations of love, threats of genitals being removed and the appearance of dirty, sassy country folk to lead Our Heroes down a potentially dangerous path...

We can ... share?

Alternative view: fffffffffiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhttttttt!!!!!!!!!!

Heh heh! It'd have to be a fight cos I don't like sharing. ;) Anyways, I was impatient and entered way back in February. I had two stories to choose between and I went for the quirkier of the two. Which I now regret. :(

And on topic, I've just added six more words to the WiP. Those six words: and bared her teeth at him. Read into that what you will.

She could have bared her soul. It was an important decision and you made the right choice.

MC2: HKV
epic sequel. very epic. so epic that i can't even begin to tell you how epic it is.
63000 words
still rising. but very, very slowly.

MC2:HKV

67500 words.
that's a good week for me. in fact, a very good week. well over the halfway mark, marching into the North, and ready to go wake up some dragons. oh yes, we have plurality.

Thought I'd add my name to this list for a change.

Title: E.M.M.A.
Genre: Science Fiction, but not too futuristic
Start Date: I wrote the idea in May 2008, but didn't actually write any prose until May 2012
Word count: 2,200 (1,100 today)
Status: Currently active in my head, but got a few other ideas vying for attention!
