The chronicles word counter!

New, unnamed, romance: 6,983 words.

Allery story still 16,722. Not touched it for a few days.

BGN: 54,974.

Got two commissions to do too, each so far standing at 0 words. Eek!

Waters/wild up to 18,400. A bit of an edit of AC, playing with abendau 3 from time to time and writing key scenes and its and bits when they hit me. Starting to have plans for Galaxy.... Urggggh, too much to think about. :)

@Hoopy. I do, regularly. :) i shall stop entering the writing comps that spark all the ideas. Tis the chrons fault, I only had one idea when I got here.

Waters/wild up to 27,600, which is more than I thought after a busy, busy work week. I'm starting to hit some plot areas that I need a bit more knowledge of, so I'll have to spend some time googling/annoying people who know more than I do about people who see fairies and what not.

Title: Ancient Technologies
Genre: Science Fiction, set in current time.
Start Date: August 2012
Word count: 24,322

Have surprised myself by writing 10k in a month. Word count 23rd March was 14.2k :eek::eek:

Getting back into the mood, after a short hiatus from this WIP.

Title: Ancient Technologies
Genre: Science Fiction, set in current time.
Start Date: August 2012
Word count: 32,795

Seeing how I have self destructed on my WIP and am not sure if I can keep going or not, I have elected to work on some short stories

I did a 1300 word short story about a healer during a war, whom heals an assassin from the other side of the wall and she ends up killing their commander once her side breaches the wall. Kind of dark and somber feeling to it. Just trying different things.

Also I am currently working on another Short Story, a SF about a young science officer trying to find out how a medieval civilization was wiped out from a distant planet. That one is only about 500 words in but a fun story. Mostly thought out already, just need to write it.

The romance has crawled to 7,340. The MC is now washing cow crap off his dog. Oh yeah, it's action packed, baby.

One commission down, one to go, however.

You want action packed, mouse? Make the dog a hellhound...:)

I, Singularity now 70,728 words. Our Hero is discovering why super powers that let you rewrite the law of gravity should not be turned off when you're running across a body of water...blub...blub...blub...

Title: untitled, sequel to my angel novel
Genre: Literary fantasy
Start Date: June 2013
Word count: 6400 out of 125,000(?)

I just started a sequel to my angel novel, which I've decided I may publish under another pseudonym after conferring with my beta. I don't know the title to this one yet, but the story is coalescing right now. I may have to expand what I've written, since I probably have too much action for the amount of words I've written. I have an ongoing problem with that. All my other projects are on hold, at the moment.

(Thanks Mouse for pointing me here)

Working Title: The Great God Pan
Genre: Modern urban fantasy
Start date: March 20th, 2013
Word count: 40,232 out of a planned 90,000

Planned? did I say planned? Bwaaaahaaaaahaaa! why do I even bother planning out beats for chapters? I'm into Chapter 7 and am just hitting the beats from Chapter 5. Oops.

The weekly check in: Galaxy, unchanged.
Waters and Wild: up to 31514 and nearing the first draft of the end scene. (Although, I'm a-wondering, it might be a mini climax instead, this one just wants to run and run...)
And now it's on hold while I try to YA Inish. Urgh.

Today I've written 347 words and stopped right in the middle of a sex scene. You're probably not meant to do that.

Ha! :D I just hate writing them so much! My eyeballs are melting at my own smut.

I know how you feel, Mouse. I wrote my first sex scene in a story a few days ago. It was only a couple of paragraphs long but now I'm constantly questioning whether it's actually necessary or just gratuitous. I finally decided to leave it in and move on so I didn't waste the momentum I'd built up writing on worrying.

When I give the finished manuscript to someone for a read-through I'll see if they have anything to say about it.

But you're so good at it! ;)

I've written one lately and will have to do more for this book, but it's not as hard as actually putting romance in there. First kiss was much more difficult than first lesbian nightclub fumble!

May 25th

Bartley (working title)

Urban Fantasy novel, 8k words in 3 weeks (a record!) so far, incl. 1400 today

Status: a steamroller of a project; motivation at maximum; and I wrote my first smutty scene. Next four chapters and vague outline of plot in my head. Going to need some serious plotwork soon, though

Now up to 27,475! That's a new record, 19k in three weeks, knocking the previous record into a cocked hat. The main reason is I'm loving this one, even if I had to fight my way through the romantic parts.

I mean, I did 3,500 words today. Three thousand, five hundred!!! It's like I've been possessed.

But you're so good at it! ;)

Really not!

So I've decided (kinda) to rewrite The Kingdom of Malinas. That's book one in my YA trilogy - the one I wrote originally when I was 17. I say rewrite, I mean make it less crap. It's now at 68,720 after me deleting lots of stupidness.

Hah, I'm currently doing the same. Though the 100,000 words I wrote when 14-16 or so (and that was only about half way through) were all complete tripe and I'm starting out from scratch again.

So Grace's redraft is on the back burner and the short fiction has been put on the front. I have reworked several older stories with a view to send them out to the world.
So we have,
Hana Yori Dango, (a Meiji era, end of samurai short) - 3474
Reflections in a microcosm (semi dystopian genetics story) - 3287
Indescribable (a heartfelt monologue) - 555
A Dream of Spring (post apocalyptic ice age story) - 2329
Clarity (a dual viewpoint short) - 1369

There are others knocking around but none as polished as these ones. They are ready for sending off I think. As it happens I have already submitted A Dream of Spring, and it was returned with comments to the tune of double the length and we'll take it... Not bad for my very first submit, no? That will be done in a week or two once my uni work is out of the way.

As mentioned above, I doubled the length of A Dream of Spring... Unknowingly turning it into the beginnings of at least a novella, so it wasn't quite the immediate acceptance of a short that I would have be after, if only to validate my career choice. And after that I have settled into a a current string of three rejections for various other short stories... I suppose this is what most writers feel, no?
Grace had a re-edit in the mean time, and very surprisingly for me, I liked it so much that I only restructured a few sentences and what not, there were no scenes I felt were bad, or needed adding to... I find is very peculiar, but am handing it out to a beta for feedback, hopefully tomorrow.

As that is done there is a new project started as well, and a new route to explore for me...

Title - In Gold
Genre - Romance(attempted) with a little bit of 'beyond normality' thrown in
Word Count - 24,583
Start date - 5th June 2013
Status - full steam ahead, the first few chapters went by at a good pace, now stuck after a leap of a few years, re-imagining the characters from their younger beginnings. The first few chapters, it must be said, we're more planned out than much of the rest, which has only an idea of where I need to get, but that shouldn't take too much working out before im back on track. I think this one will be about 60-70k and hopefully it will be finished and redrafted by the time I'm back for my third year in uni at the end of September.
