The printer sent us many more copies of Black Static 8 than we needed, so we’ve decided to offer a FREE COPY to every new subscriber between now and the publication in February of issue 9 or until we run out of issue 8, whichever comes first.

To take advantage of this offer CLICK HERE to enter the shop. Follow the simple instructions, and make sure you write BS8 Offer in the Shopper’s Reference field. That bit’s very important, without it you won’t receive the extra free copy.

The offer applies to all subscriptions to Black Static: both six-issue and twelve-issue subscriptions and both dual subscription offers with Interzone.

The shop can accept any credit/debit card and paypal.

And have a good Christmas and New Year or whatever other seasonal celebration suits you, whatever your reaction to this offer.

As I have said before Black Static is 1 year old, in fact its 8th issue is out now so it is well into its second year. However the E edition is a little behind and Black Static 6 has just been uploaded at Fictionwise.

This issue contains Paul Meloy's 'All Mouth' and soon we will have Paul's collection, Islington Crocodiles available as an e book from Fictionwise.

Black Static 7 should be uploaded soon and TTA Press' first novel, Andrew Humphrey's Alison is now available from from Fictionwise.1633

That cover is now accompanied by a contents list and BAFTA winner Stephen Volk contributes to the short fiction content with “Fear”. He is also a Black Static regular as a columnist so he makes two appearances in issue 9. Don't miss it; subscribe now.

Stephen is famed as the scriptwriter of the 1992 Halloween hoax documentary ‘Ghostwatch’ and supernatural and paranormal thriller ‘Afterlife’. He also scripted Ken Russell’s 1986 film ‘Gothic’ and 1990’s The Guardian.

Stephen's short story collection, Dark Corners, was published by Gray Friar Press in 2006. 1905

Paul Meloy won the British Fantasy Society award for best short story in 2005 and last year his collection Islington Crocodiles was published by TTA. It includes the award winning story “Black Static,” which so impressed the editor of The Third Alternative magazine that he called his new magazine by the same name. Here are links to reviews of the collection and now one of its stories, Raider, has been posted for your pleasure here. Paul's stories have appeared in Black Static and Interzone.

If you like it then why not buy it here?

Stephen Volk wrote this on the Iz Forum:
BS #11 is wonderful issue and BS is still the best designed magazine in the genre. I'm proud to be a part of it!

Al Robertson's "De Profundis" was gripping and chilling. I loved None Had Sharp Teeth which reminded me of the delight on McIntosh's previous "Circus Town". Gary Couzens's "Served Cold" was stunningly - numbingly - unpleasant. And "Off With The Furies" by Daniel Kaysen a real tour de force. Brilliant. 2898
