Since reading ASoIaF the first time round, the wait for ADWD has only made me grow even more obsessed with everything westerosi. If the whole series had been written when I picked the series up back in January, I would have read the books -- and yes, loved them to bits -- but that might not have spurred me into searching the net for websites, forums and blogs, greedily devouring any news on the next possible release date, and discovering all the intelligent (and otherwise) theories that I'd never have thought of myself. All the while, Brienne is still dangling from that rope, the cords tightening at her neck, Tyrion is on his way across the Narrow Sea, the dragons are growing, and Ramsay Bolton could be flaying a little bit more of Theon as I write these words, with no way of knowing what fate awaits them all until GRRM says so.
So, in a slightly masochistic way, I'm quite thankful for the long wait, as it has compelled me to explore the world of ASoIaF in greater depth, and made me think a lot more about the characters and the story. Perhaps my love will fade if I have to endure years before I read another ASoIaF book (after all, I didn't have to suffer the last wait between ASoS and Feast)... but I doubt it.
