Ok, so we all have listed our favorite characters...so now why don't we list some of our least favorite characters(they don't have to be POV characters either) and the reasons why we don't like them.

I guess my least favorite characters would be:

  • Stannis - he's just to rigid, there is no/very little compromise with him
  • Bolton's ******* - he seems very close to truly evil
  • Gregor Clegane - he's just freakishly mean and gives a new meaning to cruel
  • Cersei - she's in a position of power and completely wastes it all in her hatred of Robert and Ned
That's all I can think of at the moment...oh wait, I really didn't like viserys either...he treated Dany horribly.

Joffrey - horrible, spiteful little swine who got what was coming to him! :p
Raff the Sweetling - boy was I cheering when he got his! :)
Melissandre - scary, scary lady
Gregor - mindless rage personified, needs killing but needs it in a big scrap (hint hint GRRM!)
Lord Frey - boo, hiss!!! grrrr (need I say more? ;))

In no particular order of non-preference...

Joffrey - 'what a little TIT' was on my mind the whole time I was reading anything to do with him
Lord Tywin - just a nasty piece of work, form the way he treats his children to the way he treats everyone else
Janos Slynt - do I have to explain?
Lysa Aryn - my GOD, what a stupid, gullible, insane, neurotic, petty and pathetic character...Good for shock value though, I've read the books four times so far and EVERY time I come to her later scenes I end up shocked all over again...I can't get it in my head that someone can be like that.
Cersei - her p***s envy...sorry, girl, all that power, and even some brains that make her competent to wield it...and she just lets it slip through her fingers...
Gregor Clegane - no comment there...
Robert 'make them fly' Aryn - I don't hold with child abuse in real life but if ever I saw an alternate use for a horsewhip that kid is IT...
Varys and Littlefinger - too self serving and many-faced for my liking...
Stannis is a sort of grey persona for me...on one hand he's too rigid and sulky, but he still goes and does the right thing...
I'll add more as I think of them...

See, I knew I would forget some!! Joffery and Lord Frey should be right at the top of my list.:D

Sansa, especially in the beginning was extremely irritating to read. I guess that was why I love Arya so much. Now I don't mind her so much.

Joffrey. Definitely not sad to see the guy go =)

Lysa and Robert Arryn. I won't mind very much if Robert dies in the next book or so...

Viserys. Cruel and pathetic.

I like characters with presence, even Joffrey, Clegor, and Cersei. They've got personality and add spice to the overall mix.

The ones that annoy me are the ones who aren't directly contributing to the story - Catelyn and Arya especially comes across as incidental characters - certainly before Volume 3 - which means they seem pointless to read about.

***SPOILER***

In the case of Arya, I must defend Martin. He is clearly building the character, showing all the events and situations that effect her. In the case of Catelyn, there really is no defense. When it was revealed that she was not dead, and we had this miserable mummy/zombie on our hands I was devastated.

Welcome to this hole in the ground! I see that you're a Geordie.

Catelyn - She's a miserable bugger, we all have family tragedies and cope, but she does not seem to be able to move on. :)

Lord Frey... dont need to explain
Janos Slint and Allison Thorne... they make me get up the bed and wanting to kick&punch something
Jeyne westerling- the girl could have stayed locked in a room
Lysa Arryn I couldnt believ she was so blind...
Lord Robert-"It was not me, it was a Giant!!A GIANT!!!" little *******
Joffrey, of course
Cersei... although in this third book I liked her a bit more, like Catelyn... they are just mothers out of grief... well anyway Cersei is evil, but i cannot help liking her, with 7 years telling that girl who looks after tyrion that she is hers, and maybe she doesnt need a tongue... it is brilliant!

and i am forgetting someone probably...

Ummm, Shaggydog? What's this about Cersei? I didn't quite understand that last part about the girl and Tyrion...

At any rate, I'm going to have to add my voice to the crowd against Lord Frey. That man is like a scabrous, filthy, scheming, bitter Hugh Hefner. Ewwwwwww.

Also, I'm not really a huge fan of Edmure Tully. He's kind of an idiot.

Gregor Clegane is terrible and fascinating at the same time. Forget dark alleys- I wouldn't want to meet him anywhere! I always think about what it must be like to be one of the peasants living under his lordship, and how his wives keep mysteriously disappearing. Creepy.

Its the part where the Red Viper tells Tyrion when did he see him for the first time... Cersei threats the nurse with cutting off her tongue is she doesnt let them see the "monster..."

Geordie by adoption, South African by birth & Scottish by genetics

Work that one out! :)

I just wanna see a Catelyn/Cersei slapdown!
Also, anyone know where the hell Brianne has gotten too? I reckon she might bump into the Hound, which could be interesting...?

Ah I thought we had another Geordie member. I will have to hold off my invasion of North Yorkshire for another day. Two Geordies would have been ample.

Is Catelyn going to kill Cersei? What is Catelyn now? Does she represent anything of her former self?

To answer this question at the present time would mean we would have to look at Beric. Beric was brought back by Thoros as well and he seems to be his self. I believe Catelyn is not a zombie but what is in store for her in the future of the series I would not care to guess.

LOL! I guess there's someone for everyone. I wouldn't want to be there for the bedding, though. :)
