just wanted to drop my 2 stags down and say hello

Grand Maester Pycelle.

I just don't see him doing anything worthwhile ... ever!

Lannisters , Freys, Roose Bolton (someone should flay him)

i wouldn't disagree with ya Wolf...

but i do think that martin does portray them as they are described... second in power .. first in wealth .. they display an arrogance that is usually --abeit sometimes stereotypically -- attributed to wealthy people.

*edit* regarding the Lannisters.. though that may have been a bit obvious... x)

Welcome Wil.

I like Ser Jorah. In some respects he sees himself and the world very clearly, while he obviously deludes himself into thinking every problem and dilemma in his life is not his fault. He painfully reminds me of myself.

Good one! I hadn't quite thought of it that way. I will now add him to may "maybe" list. Let's see what he does in Dance. While I don't blame him for his initial betrayal, I want to see how he makes up for it (or at least for getting caught). Does he turn, does he, "through a daring display of self-sacrifice (gag)," make it up to Daenerys, or does he do a Hemingway and die fighting for the cause in order to make amends?

Only time (and GM) will tell.

Tyrion's father says he's not a Lannister. Well, he's decent and honourable so maybe he's right. Watch your back Tyrion, you have the two characteristics Martin loathes in a character, you'll probably get yours next !

I think Tyrion has the characteristics that Martin loves in a character... spirit and savvy.

Tyrion is not fearless, but he does not frighten easily. He may not have the physical tools, but he's a fighter. He may wallow in self pity, but he'll come back. Tyrion has a fiery spirit... like a Targ, but that's another post.

Tyrion is not the smartest, but he's working on it. He's always reading to increase his knowledge. He constantly watched his father to learn practical applications for his lessons. Tyrion loves to tackle difficult problems. He found that he liked ruling Westeros. Littlefinger and Varys may have pulled a few fast ones on him, but he's learning fast. Tyrion is savvy.

Gaaah...so many people hate Cersei...to be expected I suppose, but come ooooon there are so many people worse than her...in no particular order

Gregor-'ooh look at me im big'. yes. a twat. now HE is pure evil. and so boooooring, he doesn't do anything except be bitched about.

viserys-gaaaaaah, also pure evil...in the purest, evilest form of an older brother...poor dany

lord frey, wait no, freys in general. miserbale buggers.

although i love catelyn...ive gotta say i don't like robb. i mean who names their wolf grey wind???? pretentious twat.

lisa arryn...and son...god, DIE NOW!!!! Petyr, I love you, push Robert over as well

Tywin-sure, he's my daddy, but I can't stand him. Thanks tyrion, for sorting that out.

Joffrey-hmm. my son...*******!!!! (literally)

probably not finally, but most hated of mine are:

THE TYRELLS!!!! KILL THEM ALL!!!! BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN!!!!

well, queen cersi, i love cersi :)
i hate joffrey
cersi's father, whatever his name is
her dead husband robert? i can't remember! (i hate him for the way he treated cersi really!)
and most of all DANYS! i hate hate hate that girl. hate hate :)
im not that fond of cat, but i don't hate her enough. same with a few other characters really. danys is the only one i activly hate and dislike reading about. and joff. he was a horrible snot.

yeah. i do. i've argued that a lot (on here and other places) but it comes down to the fact i can relate ot her, i feel sorry for her, i understand where she's coming from, so i can't hate her for that.

In defense of the faery matriarch above...I enjoy reading the Cersei chapters. Maybe I dont like her like her but at least those chapters are enjoyable....unlike a certain teenaged daughter of House Stark I can think of. Those just grate on my nerves

Wights have more redeeming qualities than Cersei. I can't wait for Jaime to slap her with his golden hand then bludgeon her to death with his stump.

I love you faery queen!!!! :D

I stand by Cersei always...she's just misunderstood!!!! Nothing wrong with a little ambition, she deserves greatness, she SHOULD look down on the rest of the scum that live around her (hehe). She loves the important people to her and that's what counts.

Now let me count... she's loved Jaime, Lancel, at least two of the Kettleblacks, Taena Merryweather, and Moon Boy for all we know.

How does she deserve greatness? I'm sorry, but i can forgive Cersei's ambition (nothing wrong with wanting the best for yourself), i can forgive her being a slut (Again, as long as she's happy doing what she's doing i can't really criticise her too much for using her body as a political tool), i can even forgive her complete and utter selfishness and her shockingly awful efforts at parenting. What i cannot forgive his her supreme stupidity. she has zero political sense, she alienates those she should foster as allies, she allies herself with those she should destroy, she makes bad judgement after bad judgement and then blames those around her and then she expects jaime to come and pull her out of the hole she's dug for herself.

TBH the woman shouldn't be left unsupervised, lest she burn herself on a hob or wander off outside and talk to strangers. :)

The only thing Cersei lannister deserves is what she's going to get - a long wait followed by a short drop.

well she's playing about, yeah, but im serious when i say i like cersi and think she's misunderstood. she isn't totally responsible for the way that she ended up, her father and her society have to take a huge chunk of responsbility for making her so manipulative and cruel. and because i can see that what she is is just a product of what happened to her, and the world she lives in, i can't really hate her for anything she does. i feel bad for her, really. a control freak out of her depth. not as smart as she thinks, not valued by anyone for anything other than her sexuality. its sad :(

but im not going to discuss it again, cos i have done SO many times. but i like cersi. i think she has reason for why she is as she is.

Yes, she is sad, but interesting. She adds an added zest to the books by her actions. They wouldn't be nearly as engrossing if she were not there.

On the other hand. She doesn't have to be cruel and manipulative. She has to take some responsibility for her actions.
